Do you wonder how the heck an event ever comes together? Do you like to follow up on details and improve/automate processes? Would you like to be a race promoter and enjoy all the glamour and adulation that goes along with it? Do you want to give back for all the great events you have been a part of? Would you like to see your efforts multiplied into a major source of MORC's annual operating financial picture?

For the past 11 years the 24 Hours of Afton has been organized by a small group of cyclists under the Habanero Bicycle Club banner. As you may know the event now benefits MORC. Anyway being honest this event needs to transition to some new owners/organizers in the next year or so.

Our immediate need is for someone to handle registration. This is not an easy job but one that is key to making the event happen. I've met with several of you two months ago about the Afton event - a lot has happened in the meantime - the theme for 2005 has been decided - and the website is ready to go.

As I mentioned above an item needed is the person and address to send registrations - this is not web-enabled at this time.

What this task involves is:

1) receiving the registration forms - they come in waves as the deadlines approach.

2) entering the information from the forms (key punch) into a spreadsheet - sometimes you have to contact people by phone or mail to clarify info.

3) sending a confirmation E-mail to those that enter.

4) collecting the checks and sending them in for deposit, keeping records of the funds received.

5) attending the registration on Friday of the event at Afton as the person that does this is likely the most informed about teams and any changes required or if questions come up.

5) working closely with the timer and timing program (Scott Thayerr as far as I know will be quite involved her)

So in summary someone that is detail oriented and has some time on their hands, will follow thru, has a willing mailbox, plus the ability to be there, and be in close contact with the timer is critical.

Let me know if you can be coerced into this role. Don't worry we have lots of other things you can do if not.

This role can lead to a larger part in the future.
