There are a lot of plans for Holzinger this year. A new GPS generated map is in the works with names of all the famous sections added in. Some sections have been rerouted due to unmanageable erosion. These are have been fixed and filled in with brush. Please do not clear them out.
Two bridges were replaced last fall with two more coming soon. The Quarry Trail section (more difficult) will get extra attention this year as well. Please do not dig new trail on any of the system without talking to WAMB first. Much of the land is owned by the City of Winona and WAMB has a mutual agreement with the City on maintaining the trail system.
Please stay off the trail after rain. This trail is fragile and requires a lot of repair after riding in the rain.
Woodlawn Cemetery owns a lot of the land that the trail runs through. They have asked used not to access or leave the trail through the cemetery.
If you live in the area please volunteer your time to work on Holzinger and Cherry Hill. We have a small group here and every body we can find to help is great. Talk to Brad or Scott at Adventure Cycle and Ski in downtown Winona.
Please respect hikers on the trail. Slow down and given them notice. They are taxpayers who own the land just like us.
Most of all, have fun. This is one of the best trails in the Midwest. It is a hidden gem and a secret stash for the Winona locals. -Ian
