Three Rivers Park District is offering a road-biking skills development class for women, June 4 at Baker Park Reserve in Maple Plain. This class is ideal for women who want to get into racing or who would like to polish their riding skills on a drop-handlebar bicycle.

Please see the attached news release for more information.

Learn skills that will allow you ride your drop-handlebar road bicycle in comfort and control during “Women Who Ride,” 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Baker Park Reserve in Maple Plain.

During this informative program, participants will learn how to identify proper bike fit, change a flat tire, shift and brake to improve riding. They also will learn skills and techniques to climb, descend, corner and ride in a group. The program is intended for women who would like to develop their on-the-bike skills, comfort and knowledge before riding with a group and/or competitively. It would be a great way for a new rider to learn the basics (bike handling, maintenance, fit and riding technique). It also provides a good review of basics for a beginning racer or cyclist who has been off the bike for awhile.

Program is open to women and girls ages 12 and older. Program fee is $18. Participants should wear comfortable riding clothes and bring their drop-handlebar road bike and helmet. Reservations are required; call 763/559-6700; reference Activity Number #320711-00. Participants should meet at the Baker Park Reserve concession area. Riding skill work will be completed in the parking lot and on paved trails (6-mile loop).
