View Full Version : Volunteers needed for the Spring Cup, May 7

It's that time of year again. MORC and Erik's Bike Shop team up to put on the Spring Cup race at Buck Hill. This event is one of MORC's largest single-day fund raising events. The proceeds of this event are donated entirely to MORC, and help fund trail building, tool acquisition, and membership related expenses.

This year, like the past years, MORC is responsible for arranging volunteers to work registration, set up the course, and help with miscellaneous things on the day of the event.

Here are the positions that we're needing volunteers to help out with.

Pre-Race course clearing - Weekends leading up to the race, time TBA
Racer packet preparation - Friday the 6th, 5 PM at Buck Hill
Registration - Saturday the 7th, beginning 8:30 AM at Buck Hill
Misc. Day of help - Saturday the 7th, beginning at 8:30 AM
Kids Race help - Saturday the 7th, approximately 1 PM
Course tear down - Saturday the 7th, after the racing is over

If you're willing to help out with this MORC event and fundraiser, post up a reply with your contact info, or send me an email at president@morcmtb.org

Thanks!
Scott

Ok, ok, I'll be the first to volunteer. I could help out with:
Registration, Misc. Day of help, AND Course tear down

I'm ambitious. LOL :D I've never been to a Eric's spring cup but would like to help and check things out.

I hope you're not the first and only. Who else is up for helping out with the Spring Cup? I'm coming up way short on volunteers so far.

Thanks!

Sign me up for something early Saturday morning (misc help or registration). However, I have to be out of there around 11am for other committments.

Also, if you don't get enough sign-ups for Friday night help, post something, and I'll show up for that too.

Do you need Trail Source's 4 wheeler?? I would be willing to haul water around again and all the other good stuff that goes along with playing on my 4 wheeler.

Bob, you're on for first thing on Saturday.

Tim, of course we need the 4 wheeler!

sign me up for race packet prep on Friday night. As usual my kid's birthday celebration falls on the day of the race...Where are the rest of the volunteers?

Fortunately, I've had a few respond by email, but I could still use help. I need about 6 or 7 more for the day of the event to help with registration and misc. setup / tear down.

Missing the Spring Cup, missing the trail school at Steeplechase, I'm starting to feel guilty about being able to go out to Fruita. Hopefully be learning some interesting and different stuff at the trail seminar out there though.

Since I'll likely be schlepping t-shirts and any leftover newsletters (should I get more printed?), I can hang out and try to make myself useful for awhile on Saturday.

Preferably some capacity in which I don't have to deal with people.

Most likely I will be around. I just can't commit to anything right now.

yo, I could probably help out some, plus it'd probably be a good way to meet some of you guys (need to meet more MTB riders than I currently know!)

You posted what times stuff starts, but how long does the cup last that day? When does stuff wind down?.... i.e. when do you need the most help on Saturday and when is it the most fun to help? :-)

Thx,
-Dan

I'm in for some helping Scott, last few years I've helped with Reg in the AM then raced, Mother in Law is in town though....not sure what that means as first time it has happened! Let me know where you have gaps.

You still looking for help on Saturday? I can definitely help if you still need bodies at the race. I can do whatever you need help with.

are you in any way related to Suzanne Erdmann? From Milan TN, lives here in the cities now? Parents own Camp Voyeguer up north?

Ooo...just so you know I can't grill. LOL I havn't ever had to so I never learned! If it's other stuff, that's fine. I can also do registration, did it at Hillside. I'll be there all day so whatever is needed, I'm there.

Burke

Oh. Not a problem. The food tent is making sure that the fruit/bread/snacks are available for riders. Grilling isn't involved :)

I know I said Saturday - but the mother-in-law will be here - anyone who is signed up for Friday want to switch with me so I can work Friday and then you work Saturday. I'll do trail work or stuff packets....I can maybe also work a few hours Sat but politically would be better if I was out of there early.

Lemme know.

Scott, I'm going to have to bail out on my Friday 5 pm committment as the relatives from out of town are arriving Friday night rather than Saturday am & I need to be at home to run the grill for dinner. I could potentially come down at 7:30 - 8:00 Friday night if you are still down there.

Panman
05-04-2005, 09:58 PM
Scott, I called a friend, Nick Gilman, and he'll help me with food. So you can chalk him up for volunteering. I'll see if I can find others to help.

Sweet. Thanks Ryan.

Jeff, no worries about tomorrow night. If you want to give me a call to see if we're still needing help that late, give me a buzz.

Scott, do you need me there before 9? Where should I go/meet you when I get there? Will there also be some time for us to ride after?? :D Thanks

Burke
05-06-2005, 09:39 PM
Ummm. If you wanted to show up around 8, I could use help with Misc. registration stuff. If you're feeling SUPER motivated, I need help setting up directional signage on the roads. Starting 6:30ish :)

I appreciate your willingness to help Ryan!

Panman
05-06-2005, 09:42 PM
LOL, not sure I can get there THAT early but I'm expecting to show up around 8:30. I have to pick up Nick at the U. Will there also be time for us to ride after??

Burke
05-06-2005, 09:58 PM
The racing will be going until sometime around 3. If you stick it out that long, you're certainly welcome to ride afterward.

See you in the morning. I'm going to bed!
