Ok all,

It is now 1 month till I leave for Fruita and I am tryig to firm up some plans.

Right now per the last discussion I had with people I have Mara and I from Omaha out and back. Tim from Fruita back maybe, and nothing firm yet with Troy.

Any updates I can get from people would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Campsite reserved and it can have up to 6 people so if you are going out and wish to join us at the camp site, you are more then welcome to.

I will be getting ahold of everybody within the next week or so to try and firm up plans and dates and to start to put together a list of what everyone will need to bring.

You will be suprised how fast this month will go so let's get this stuff in order FAST.

Just got the news that I can go for sure!

I will need to be back to work on Monday the 9th, so I may have to drive to your parents place separately but we can get that worked out.

Let the planning commence . . .

Yay, Troy! I should probably wander back to work about then, too. Maybe we can work something out if you want to carpool.

Kleincrazy & Crue,

If you're going to Fruita, you really don't want to miss this one. SPLIT LIP RAYFIELD will be playing outside the shop, NEW BELGIUM will be supplying the beer!

As per usual, various elements of the Mpls. Mafia, The Thursday Morning Ride Club, and CRC will be in attendance. If you're looking for the action just look for the dust cloud near the H Motel...

Hey Hurl,

I remember the early morning stumbles at the H motel to try and get everyone organized for a ride.

Mara, Troy, Tim, Tim adn I will be camping at the grounds in town. 3 or 4 others from the city will be hoteling it, and Kurt and Cuzn J will be out also.

I am sure we will have to hook up and do at least one ride with you all. Mara , Troy and I all plan on bringing singles along with gears, so you will let us ride with you right?

Everyone will be invited over to our campsite one night to help us drink the 10 gallons of on tap homebrew Troy and I made for the trip. Mine - Ginger Ale, Troys - Thimbleberry Wies.

We will keep you posted and keep in touch.

Not really,

Have heard a lot of mixed reviews about Sovereign and am not sure what to think.

Iwould liek to ride most everything out on 18 road including edge loop. Would liek to do moore fun adn some of the stuff on the west end of that area. would also liek to try and get over and do the lunch loop stuff in Grand Junction.

there are no set plans however.

there's really more trails in the valley than we could ride in a week anyway. i do know someone in gj that would guide us on the trails there.

and i don't really want to drive to moab...

I leave for Fruita/Moab at the end of the week. We fly out on Friday the 15th at 4:00. The weather is looking good, the bikes are in boxes and being shipped out today. I don't think I'll be getting anything done this week.
And we are planning on riding the Sovereign trail this year, in place of Amasa Back.

I'm ready to hit as many as possible. Never been out there, so I am really looking forward to the trip. Got a full week to put on some serious singletrack miles. Point me down that flowing ribbon. . . :D

Ok all,

The Car is now full so if you still would like to go to Fruita, you will have to find your own way there. :p

Two days until BikerTex, myself, and the rest of the crew leave for Fruita/Moab. We'll be posting a trail report on Soverign when we get back... And also laying down the bragging rights from having done the Porcupine Rim trail as a loop from Town..... ;)

...ah yeah, as long as when you say doing Porcupine as a "loop" you mean counting the shuttle ride to the trailhead, and then back to camp afterwords. Then hell yeah, I'm all about doing it as a "loop". ;)

As long as it's no surprise to you, that I'll be too hung over to ride anyhow, so it won't matter.

But is it worth the drive from Fruita when you have all those great trails at your foot steps already? I rode Sovereign the year before last and it is a great trail for sure, but I am not certain I would travel from the FFTF to ride it.
Just my 2 cents!

BikerTex and krew should hit it up during there stay in Moab however!!!

If your not going to Moab, then skip it, although I'm not sure why you'd go to Fruita without going to Moab. For sure Fruita riding is outstanding, but Moab has it's perks too.

I just got back from Moab/Fruita with the BikerTex crew... The trails and weather were picture perfect. (except for the last day's ride at slickrock with 50+mph wind gusts, which made things interesting!)

This was my first time hitting Sovereign. I liked it- although I would recommend that people get better maps than what we had. (which was none) We attempted to make a large loop out of the trail and ride back on some of the alternative offshoots instead of simply riding the out-and-back- which was a bit of a mistake. It did have some great singletrack sections. I think I still prefer porcupine as the signature Moab ride, though.

Souvereign was cool, but as pefozzy hints to, it was a bit of a "death march" for us. Our map, or lack there of, was a big problem. But we had figured on it being about a two hour ride, we returned to our vehicles after about five hours. We were all super low on water and energy, and that was supposed to be our "easy day". It was a cool trail though. if I ever go back, I'd ride it again.
All things being equal, I have to say that I much preffered the trails in Fruita. I've been to Moab at least six or seven times now, and it's a bit over populated these days. This year was my first time riding the singletrack in Fruita, and it kicked ass. As did the the guys at Over the Edge Sports, and the beers at the Fruita Brew Pub. I know for next time there's no need to drive the added distance to Utah, other than maybe going to hike in Arches National Park.
Anyhow, that's my two cents.
