Any one know where I might find a 1993-4 Stumpjumper? I'm looking for a Large frame in green. These Cro-Molly frames were sweet. In 94 or 95 they changed the geometry to allow for a suspension fork, I'd like one with the steel fork if possible. Any thoughts on where or how I might find such a bike?
I don't need all the parts if a frame is all you got.
Perhaps someone out there could recomend a similar frame from another builder? Also where do you find information on older bikes like that? I've googeled and looked on E-bay and Mtbr but no luck yet.
Someone must have one hanging in the garage.

Have you checked the Vintage, Retro, Classic forum on MTBR?
They, of anyone, would know of frames with similar geo's, or possibly someone there would have one.

Good luck in your search!

How about a pink steel Stumpjumper frame from around '92? Gots the rigid fork that you want, and a bottom bracket that is done "welded" to the frame?
Cheap.

I know that olive drab greenish colored Specialized you speak of. As I recall it came as an XT/LX combination, and as I recall, that was one of the first bikes I remember coming with an "aheadset" system. It was a cool bike. I'll keep my eyes open for you. When you say you need a "large" frame size what do you think would fit you a 17", a 19" or 21" inch frame?

Hey Tex: The green was more of a bright lime green like the late 60's Stingray green. The bike came with the most complete LX package, every part was LX (in black) this included: seat post adjuster, skewers, derailers, canti brakes, hubs, cranks everything. I bought mine at the old Ericks in St Louis Park. As I recall I went in to buy some 3$ sale bike gloves for my kid and went home with a clearance bike at $650.
I cracked one of the lower chain stays and Ericks/Specialized warranted it for me with a newer frame that needed a suspension fork. Many of the parts are still going strong including:derailers, crank arms and brakes. This bike is my winter bike which unfortunately was damaged this winter.
I'm 6'1" 200lbs with a long torso. 18"-19" frame would be right.
I was wondering, because the one I'm thinking of had to be older than '93 or '94. Another thing I was thinking of is that I thought it came with a Specialized titanium stem, or maybe the stem was painted to match or something like that. I don't remember exactly, just that it had a high zoot stem on it.
At any rate, I'll keep my eyes open for you.
