As some of you may have seen in previous posts, we're in the process of building a partnership with the DNR and the city of Brainerd that would include building a mountain bike trail system in the Cuyuna state recreation area.

MORC has gotten the ball rolling at the state DNR level, now we're needing to plant the seed and get an active mountain bike advocacy group established in the Brainerd/Ironton area.

The potential of this trail project is monumental, and we will not be able to pull it off without having dedicated individuals operating at the local level.

Succeeding with this project will push MORC to the national forefront in the mountain bike advocacy scene. This is your chance to get in at the proverbial ground level.

If you are interested in making a commitment to help bring this trail project in Cuyuna to fruition, either reply to this post, or send me an email directly at president@morcmtb.org.

This project will be a defining one for MORC. Help us make it happen!

I want in. I'll be attending Bemidji state university for the next 2 years, further north I know, but there is gotta be some way I can help! I think it sounds like a cool area to build some trails! Maybe I can do a video piece on it for one of my production classes??? ooo wouldn't that be cool!

Well I am going to school in the cities, in the summer I am in Pequot Lakes, so to help out in the summer would be easy for me. So count me in for help.

Just drove through the cuyuna rec area on the way to and from the cabin this last weekend.

Dang, that's a great area. It's going to be great if we get the go ahead for this!

I mentioned in previous posts. Get a hold of the Paul Bunyan Cyclists at paulbunyancyclists.com . It's the local bike club. They have all the core people involved in cycling. Also, get a hold of Trailblazer Bikes in Brainerd at 218-829-8542 and talk to Chuck. Otherwise, get a hold of Ken at Easy Riders Bicycle at 218-829-5516.

I may be up there this Summer to work at Trailbalzer again, but I have not yet decided. I know the area like the back of my hand, and again, I would be happy to show anyone a good time and good ride up there. There are even more trails outside the area as well.

Let me know, 218-831-1512
