This (http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news_9314.html) is JUST what I need! Some of you have seen me talk on the phone while riding the Grizzly down the trail. At The Farm.
No more dead batteries for me!! Ever.

What has our world come to. Is there anywhere on GODS green earth that you can go without a cell phone stuck to someones ear! I feel like I want to run down drivers in cars w/ cell phones. I know for sure I'd run someone off the trail if I seen this get up on their bike. Sorry for the rant, just my .02 cents.

For whatever it's worth, I think it's a better idea than a cell phone recharger for your car. :p

Yikes - two replies and they both have skulls in the avatar...
I bet I could adjust it to add some resistance so I'd get a little bit more of a workout at the SAME time as charging my phone.

It's highly unlikely you will see this on Adam's bike. I am sure he would not stoop this low, but if he does, the GT4 LAN battle is off for sure....now way man....I can only get soooo techy.....:)

Last year I said it'd be great for the time trial to get your whole team conferenced up via cell phones, put in the hands free and chat it up while you're racing. It'd be like radio communication for commandos!

 thats just the ancient way to generate e-power from your bike. Pretty bad efficiency, itīs even worse when the tire gets wet or collects some mud or snow.
Worst case:: If it rattles loose it may jump in the spokes:crazy2:
Iīd go for a hub dynamo, like SON www.nabendynamo.de (http://www.nabendynamo.de/) , SRAM iLight or one out of the Shimano range. There are tons of instructions about battery charging for cell-phons, GPS, lights etc. on the internet

I remember back in about '89 I bought an old Schwinn generator light for my mountain bike. I'm pretty sure the light was a left over from the 70's, it was pretty basic. I installed it, and it worked fairly well, especially compared to what was available back then. But on my second night ride with it, I was flying down a fairly long steep hill that is fairly technical. Well the little generator couldn't handle the speed, and it completely fried, and left me alone at full speed flying downhill in the dark. I managed to make it to the bottom of the hill without slamming into any trees, but I almost got run over by one of my friends riding behind me as I slowed down.

when I was a kid one of those "bottle type" dynamos rattled loose and contacted the spokes. At that time dynamos where mounted to the front :fool: fork.Who said bicycle riders canīt fly?
Since those days I prefer hub dynamos
Today itīs all easy goin with small and nice toys mounted to the handlebar: bike computers, flightdecks, gps
Remember the old days? When the first photo-voltaic solar cells showed up? Steve Roberts biked the BEHEMOTH - that was
