I won a gift certificate ($25) for Adventure Cycle and Ski in Winona, but I will probably never get there to spend it.

I was wondering if there are any bike clubs or such in the area to help me out. My plan is to donate the certificate somehow. I work at a bike shop and won't need it, so if I could buy a kid (that may not be able to afford one) a helmet or something, that would be cool. :banana:

If any of you have any ideas, let me know..

I would contact WAMB (Winona Area Mountain Bikers) by calling Adventure and ask for Brad (new owner). He would know how to help some youngins out in the area. The phone number is 507-452-4228.

I'm originally from Winona and I get down there once every month or two. I'll be there next at the end of March or early April. My mom works at a school so if you'd like I can give her the gift certificate for you and have the school give it away as a prize or something for a student. I'd be glad to help with this or if you have any other ideas I'll help out if I can.

That sounds GREAT! Like I said it's only $25, but some kid would be stoked to have it. It's a little faded in areas cause it was kind of wet this weekend, but I called the shop and they're cool with it! I'd also rather have somone that's local bring it in, help out the LBS.

WAMB for the last few years has been donating about a thousand dollars or so (part of the proceeds from the Cherry Bomb) to at risk youth in the Winona area by buying helmets at cost and then donating them. Might be worth to donate your money back to the shop and mark it to go into that fund.

...that was my original intention. I called before I had even posted this and talked to the owner and told him that's kind of what I wanted, and I think that's what I'll do. Thanks! As long as I KNOW it goes somewhere, that'll be cool!
