So how the heck is everyone going to spend their tax returns? I got the go ahead from the boss to use it any way i want!!! So im stuck, do i buy a new roadbike, build a unicogger, freeride. Shall i get another camera, or a some new DJ equipment? Anyone else having troubles thinking of how to waste their money?

The deposit hit the bank on Thursday night. Placed an order for a bunch of Phil Wood goodies on Friday. Set of hubs (gasp... Geared even!) a dedicated fixed rear hub, 3 bottom brackets, some tools, some grease, some Tenacious oil, and a couple of pint glasses for good measure. I love Phil Wood stuff. :) I gotta spend it before my wife does!

Well I am looking at getting some new lightwind windsurfing gear and a suspension upgrade for my jeep OR pay off some student loans. I am leaning towards toys, but having loans suck

That would be fun cam setup. I want a Canon GL2 so bad. However that will have to wait till I get my 20D DSLR and a new job.

Save the extra cash and go with the DVX100a, I've shot with both cams and asked lots of people...the DVX is worth the money and will BLOW you away. Closes thing to film with out being film.

Bummer about the rest of that stuff though...:hit:

Cameras fascinate me from the standpoint of how they're kind of an arty-farty type thing but they very much appeal to guys. They're like guitars in that way. Guys will talk up the technical jiggery-pokery that goes on into making a guitar or a camera and how cool it all is and the end result is creating something as "girly" as art. :)

This all said as someone who loves shooting photos and playing music, mind you ...

A tripod is one of the most simple, oldest and most stable platforms for putting things on. The technology has been perfected for many thousands of years. It's hard to screw up a tripod. If it's got 3 legs and a bolt to screw into the base of your camera, I'd say it works just fine no matter the $$ of your titanium-housed camera.

Hey, you are not required to pay your taxes through withholding. You should stop having your employer withhold fed and state taxes and pay estimated quarterly taxes. That way you can give yourself a refund! It's easy to do, and will help you skirt that parking ticket problem until you get pulled over on the way to something extremely important.

A bicycle is one of the most simple, oldest and most stable forms of transportation. The technology has been perfected for many hundreds of years. It's hard to screw up a bicycle. If it's got 2 wheels and a saddle to put your rear end on I'd say it works just fine no matter the $$.

Just doesn't sound right does it. Once you strip out some cheap plastic or have a wind gust knock your tripod over you'll be pissed you didn't get yourself a decent tripod.

Got ya all beat... downpayment on an engagment ring. Ouch!! Would've been one hell of a nice bike.

Guilt can be a wonderful thing....
"I was saving this money to get a new bike.....:cryin: "
So, I got and engagement bike from my wife. It cost significantly less than the ring, but I got the bike I wanted. These are modern times and women need to step up to the plate (or cash register).

You found a woman not immune to guilt? Usually that stuff slides off 'em like they're made of teflon. Smart move, marrying that one...

I'd buy up that bike(s) before you get married, cuz after that it's an eye for and eye, tooth for a tooth!

I once new a guy who made two pie charts for this wife. The first one was the percent each one brought home in their paycheck and the second was what percent each one spent. You can guess who slept on the couch for the next couple nights. Everyone at worked said " ya man we are with you" and then said under our breath "no way I would say that to her".

Oh trust me...my wife knows who's these stats very well.....she's quite proud of them infact....how she can spend so frick'n much $$ in an afternoon is besides me but it doesn't seem to bother her one bit (I really know I'm in trouble when she says, hey do you mind if I go buy 1 outfit this weekend....you'd think by now that I would have learned there's a multipler that is involved here)
