Not sure if he has a case or not, but he seems to be up to his old cry baby self. Being this bitter is just sad.

Wow! That is sad Craig, i cant believe he would even do this. Business is business, i guess he cant stand having another American win more than him. Just wait until Lance partners up with Trek and puts out a whole line of road bikes that pushes Lemond bikes out of the picture. Things change, thats life. Just sad to see him waste the legal systems time, unless there was a contract breech thats exaclty what it is.

I think you've misreading this a bit. LeMond is not blaming Armstrong for anything or claiming that he is better than him. He is simply trying to protect his brand name from getting dropped by those who were selling it.
It's the sellers that are claiming that LeMond's name in not marketable because of the "emergence of Armstrong ....". At least LeMond is claiming that he got an e-mail from a seller telling him that. LeMond is simply trying to sue for breach of contract, i.e. claiming that his name is still marketable under the contract terms.
Who knows if he will succeed, but I don't blame him for trying to protect his name brand.

Trying to protect his name brand... Selling crap @ Target???!! Come on... isn't that selling out? Being replaced by parts branded as Schwinn, what a slap in the face. Personally, I would be embarrassed to admit the circumstances and details of the case. Granted, 500k a year is a lot of money to quible about.
In the article there was something about 2002 being the best year ever for the Lemond bikes sold by Trek. I like Lemond, and I think that the 2002 era of the bicycles were about the best bikes to roll out of the Trek factory in a number of years... but now I suspect the years are numbered.

Today's Strib said he won 3.46 million in his case against PTI. Business is business, and sport is sport plus business & money. Almost all big time sports heros do endorsements and market their name for a variety of products, so what constitutes selling out?
The determining factors in the suit were the contract they signed and the commitment PTI made to Lemond, and Greg's marketing power in the duration of the breached contract. PTI may be right in saying Lance's name has outstripped Lemond in marketing power, and Greg may be delusional in claiming he's still a big name in mass marketing, but his attorneys were able to convince the courtthat he still had 3.46 mil of marketing power left

Saw this in the paper also and was glad for LeMond. I don't believe he was selling out. If someone is offering him 500 grand a year good for him.
LeMond may not have the name Armstrong does but he does have more class than Lance.

I can't say I like what LeMond has said about Lance and doping in the past, nor the fact that he can't get over the fact that someone has eclipsed him as the great american cyclist of all time but hey if someone signs a contract with you to market your name you shouldn't be held responsible because someone else came along and won more races than you. He got what he deserved. He's not being a whiner.

Hey but he later appologized. He was having a bad day.:crazy2:
I also read that Trek was tyrying to get out of their contract to produce Lemond bikes because of his comments he made about Armstrong's relation to the Italian sports doctor Michelli Ferrari.
