I saw that on a different forum or maybe this one a while ago. Word had it that he survived, but who knows. That is what I call really unnecessary risk and I'm all for unnecessary risks.

Yes he lives and to tell us all about it. I seen it in another forum also. I think it was over in MTBR. There's a little story of what happened and the video.

Ouch. :hit:

Watching that made my heart jump up into my throat. I'm with the first guy. Better to walk and ride another day...

Holy Crap is right... I think I'm gonna have nightmares.

A little exposure is one thing, but that's too much for me.

Considering the veracity of the internet and the technical skill and creativity of people who make films, I think the main question is "is this clip authentic?"

If you think that is bad exposure try the Portal Trail in Moab.

Ah, the Portal Trail. I have a picture somewhere of me riding past with that same sign in the fore-ground....I'll see if I can dig it up. However, promptly after the picture was taken, we walked the rest of that section. It's a fun descent, only a few sections where you "should" walk, mostly ride-able. Not something you blast down full speed though.

Watching him bounce down the hill reminded me of the Simpson's episode where Homer tries to jump a ravine on Bart's skateboard. Glad he survived. (Homer and the Mt Biker.)

I walk my bike on those parts. I like getting crazy on my bike but for some of that stuff a person should wearing a climbing harness and be tied in. That guy is is really lucky. Even with a helmet he is still very lucky.

Here's that pic I was talking about of the portal trail. Good stuff. We walked the really hairy parts, but rode most of it.

That's one of those things that looks worse than it really is. Lots of scrapes, but it looks like he was lucky and didn't impact anything.....like a big rock. Yeah, I would have to say a helmet in this situation is a good idea.....but I would rather have a full face on, a chest protector, knee and elbow pads, and a pillow at the bottom.........:)

if we're playing that game. I would rather skip the entire fall of the cliff part all together. ;)
