View Full Version : Dream on!
. . . reads the headline in a Pioneer Press Outdoor Life section article from this weekend. It's a little blurb about sports facilities that have been proposed and have nothing to do with Pro teams or whiney big money owners.
One of our tireless IMBA Reps, Tim W., and his (our) dream project of getting an epic length trail going in MN, get a quick nod.
The online article. (http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/sports/outdoors/10752237.htm?1c)

Dreams are free.
$400k sounds like a lot of money. When compared with the other ideas, it seems like pocket change. Someday maybe... I like the idea of MN becoming a destination state for off-road riding.

I wonder what's included in that $400,000 price tag? Is some of that just the cost of gas and food for volunteers that would come up to help?

Just take a look at the IMBA site. It costs on average $10,000 a mile to build trail when the professionals come in and do it.
I am sure Tim will want to answer this one, but just think how long it would take to build 50 miles of single track with just volunteers. That would take at least 10 years to build. Plus trying to get a lot of volunteers to help work on it when its 1.5 hours from the metro would be really hard.
I think its a great comparison to see what everything costs. I think one financial thing that isn't on there is the cost to maintain, where we would also be very low.
Lets hope we get a green light on this project!!!!!
ROCK ON!!!!!!
