That is crazy stuff. I saw it featured in a series of ads at the british advertising awards last year (or maybe two years ago, I forget).
But have you seen Extreme Ironing (http://www.extremeironing.com/).
"the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt."

I thought this referred to the commercial where the guy is all geared up and is running alongside the 2 guys on bikes, taking jumps and "skidding" to a stop with them. I laughed my a$$ off when the goofball takes off down the hill first and augers in with his head. Too funny. :crazy2:

Yeah, that commercial is too funny. I like when he gets the air over the jump and whips out his feet. Sweet move!

Back in the day I could pull those stunts off, but now age has taken it's toll, and I can barely step off a curb without turning an ankle.:scream:

You've most definitely had your share of ups-n-downs, but I bet I've had more stitches than you! They'll have to pry my bike from my cold, dead hands someday, age be damned! And if I ride by myself this winter, in the lousy shape I'm in, that might happen sooner than later.

I like how they are all riding 4,000 dollar bikes and then when they get to the reward segment of the commercial you get like a 200 dollar hybrid :)
There is a car commercial that uses freerunners. I think it is for the Scion. The guys are chasing the cars around a city. At the end they give them credit.
Someone posted a video on mtbr.com and it had guys jumping off buildings, looked pretty cool but it also looked like good way to blow out a quad muscle.

Is this anything like "freestyle walking"?
I saw some guy with those Soap shoes at a skatepark once. I think I had a hard time lifting my body off the floor......seriously.....we laughed him right out of there. It wasn't to be mean.....we just could not help ourselves when we saw this kid running across the skatepark up a ramp and onto a rail.
Ouch....it just hurts to talk about it.........:laugh:

From the clips I've seen its like gymanstics in the city. Jumping from high spots and then landing into a roll to break the fall. Or jumping from ledge to ledge down the outside of a stairwell or something.
I'm down with the freestyle walking but not so far to go about getting a pair of special shoes. I just like busting out a foot step move on a sidewalk ledge or something from time to time. I recall once in school seeing this kid who had soap shoes on but he didn't even know what they were. I helped him unscrew a piece of rubber to expose a piece of metal on the bottom. He thought it was crazy too.
Then again when people first saw skateboards they probably laughed them off the beach sidewalk and the same goes for snowboards.

My dad circa '84 after he went skiing with his brother at Big Sky:
Dad: "We saw this guy below us as we were on the lift using this surfboard-looking thing going through the powder. He wiped out and we were laughing, asking if he was OK. He just got up and kept going."
Mom: "Was he just standing on it?"
Dad: "No! He was strapped onto it! Looked just dangerous and stupid!"
I was about 10 and I thought "ooh ... cooool, I gotta get one of those!"

Since I know exactly what Shad's talking about:
It is different from "style walking" which was just skateboard moves without the skateboard. This is to running what that race through NYC on fixed-gear bike messenger rides is to biking, sorta using the urban landscape as obstacles that you sorta improvise a steeplechase through. Ever see the ad with the guy running away from the chicken with the French description and English translation? Weird, British commercial it was. Yeah, that's freerunning.

I started riding snowboards back in 1990. I think I was like 12 or 13. It was so cool back then to be doing something different and "crazy". Now the spirit of snowboarding is so watered-down and commercialized. Everyone rides now. I haven't even bothered to go yet this year. It's just not the same as it once was... I bet Shawn Farmer would attest to that. And if you're from the old school, you know all about Farmer.

I am right there with you. I remember going to the hill and my brother and I being the only ones on the hill with snowboards. It was funny so many people asking you what that thing is. Now I am trying to ride hard boots to make snowboarding fun again (plus with numerous injuries, the hard boots seem to work better).
