My dad has a Gary Fisher Marlin which is in excellent condition. I believe the components are LX, but I would have to check. There are very few scratches, if any on the frame. I'm not sure how much its worth, but he would like to get around $250. Please let me know if you are interested or want a pic.

Here are a few pics of the bike. As you can see, the seat is ripped on the back, but thats the only thing wrong with it.

Thanks for posting the pictures, but I think I'll keep on looking. That isn't quite what I had in mind- I'm looking for something a little bit higher end.

Thanks!

Dusty,

I passed your post onto a friend. I'm encouraging him to get into biking. What size is the Marlin?

how "high-end" do you want to go??

i've got a 1995 litespeed 18" obed [titianium] w/ marzocchi/xtr 8spd shifters,hubs, vbrakes/raceface cranks/ti seatpost/ti bonty saddle/ti bolts/irc tires/etc.
i don't remember all the parts, it hasn't been rode in 2 years and and before that it was only raced in the chequamgon. yup, rode once a year for 3-5 years...

if you're seriously interested, i can take some pics, but it's in storage in my garage attic and is a pita to get down.

I have a med. Genesis geometry Fisher I'm trying to sell. Full XT drivetrain, new chain, Kore cockpit, Bontrager Race wheels new Panaracer tires and a Manitou Mars C fork. The paint on the frame is a little beat up, and the hubs should be checked out. But, other than that it is solid. If you are interested, I can send you some more pics. Currently the bike is packed for shipping, so some assembly required, (I can help out with that). I will consider a trade for some of your stuff. Cash price is negotiable. Lemme know.

Kurt-

That Lightspeed sounds cool, but I'm guessing you'd probably ask more for that bike than I want to spend. I'm basically looking for a 'nice' hard tail I can XC race on and ride around town. I have a dually that works great for trips and trail riding... But isn't so good for pavement or going fast uphill.

Hmmm, sounds like you need to buy a new set of lungs!!! ;) j/k What is the dually you are riding...you might be better off buying a new wheel set to lighten it up a little, different tires things like that, cuz I have one bike a bighit and I can pedal it up and down the hills in Duluth all day long...So post you current bike/build and maybe we can figure something out that would be cheap and effective!

Bigger lungs certainly wouldn't hurt! My FS bike isn't that big- it's a Jamis Dakar XLT - but compared to my old FSR it pedals uphill like a lead balloon. I could do the seperate road wheelset thing, but I'm not convinced it would help that much. The wheelset currently on it isn't that heavy, and the tires really aren't that crazy either. It's just the 5" of nice, plush travel doesn't help on the road too much, and there are no lockout switches. So I've talked myself into thinking I need a XC hardtail for those special occasions...

Just a thought though...rotational weight is the most noticable place to lose weight on a bike. Maybe tubless some python xcs in 1.9 with 16/17 butted spokes...just a thought, otherwise a Specialized M4 HT can be had for pretty cheap w/ a little bit of shopping. Post pics of what you get!!!!

If you want a really good HT and don't want to spend that much go SS.
