Buck,
yeah man, im stoked. I'm definately going to be on the scene more now that I have a huck-worthy bike. And the Steeple and Spirit projects are definately right in my wheelhouse, so hopefully I'll be doing alot of driving for trail work sessions.
You know any shops that sell FF helmets around the TCs? I need one and it really isn't something you can just order up, I need to find one or some to try on.
Get that hand better dude.

Yeah dude,
transitions have really blasted the scene with great bikes in the last two years. get yourself a DC fork and that would be a very worthy bike out west too! Versatile bikes are good like that!!!!
Any where that caters to lots of BMXers will usually have good helmets...look for something vented but not the switchblade unless you want the mouth guard to shatter into your face, which those can do b/c the mouth/face guard are bolted on...otherwise Vigor and TLD make the best helmets. Vigor Vamoose 2(that is what I have love it to death saved my skin many a time!!!) is just a cheaper version of the TLD D2. For good deals call go-ride.com, super cool guys that know their stuff, they'll get ya rockin with the right size brain bucket for a good cost!!!
Hand is doin good got all the stiches out yesterday...20 somethin' they took out...:geek: ...new pic of incision in the galleries...

Hey, that looks like a sweet ride. You are going to have to tell me what the z150 is like (thinking about getting one if i get a hardtail). I would check out Leo's South in Burnsville (near Buck Hill) for a full face. I got my azonic helmet there. They have a pretty wide selection.
Dusty,
Thanks for the tip yo. I got your old hub laced up and assembled the rear wheel last friday night. Looks pretty good. Got some 2.5 Kenda Blue Grooves for tires, look like nice tires but I am a little dissapointed that they are only actually about a 2.35". Have to get the 2.7s next time.
Got the chain guide and rear brake adapter so I could finally put the drive train and brakes on. Only waiting on the front rim now. The e13 STS chainguide is pretty sweet check out that bash ring, BEEF-CAKE!!

DAMN!!!! I love new bikes... ...you'll like the STS...I've run one for 2 yrs no problems!

Buck,
Yeah, that thing (STS) is sweet, didn't take to long to install, wasn't as hard as people make it out too be. Were you able to get your's to run completely silent? Mine seems like its gonna make a little noise when it runs on the upper half of the cassette (the chain every so slightly rubs the upper guide,). Everything is new and straight, and my spacing is good, the roller and chainring are inline, so I think it is just the way its gonna be with the chain line in those gears.
Can't wait to get the front rim in. Its starting to look like a bike!
Yeah, mine took about 15 minutes to install if that. That is why EVIL are so good, hassle free installation. Mine runssilentfor the most part, alittle sound comes from the lower roller, but that is expected, once you are on the trail you won't notice. But other then a little tweakage i would say you'll be fine!
keep the pics comin'!

Hmm, that frame sure looks a lot like my housemate's Chaparral... Are they both catalog frames or is transition just copying?
Buck, you back in Duluth?

Not a catalog frame....just another good use of the Kona "4-Bar Walking Beam". It's a great pedaling set-up that allows for some good travel and it doesn't require a license to replicate it.

Dudes,
Yeah, the Dirtbag, Stinky, and Chap are all similar rides, based on the same linkage, but they all have there subtle differences. (notably $$$) I chose the Dirtbag because the 2 guys that own Transition are the guys you talk to on the phone and in emails, unbeatable customer service, hands down. They seem to have the right values, put there customer first kinda thing. Pretty sweet in my opinion, especially when you're throwing down large change on something you are going to beat the crap out of.
The other reason I chose the Dirtbag was it was frame only, allowing me to use what I had/wanted. The Stinky doesn't have what I want on it, and the deelux is too pricey for me. The Chap was one I looked at, but the Dirtbag was a half a grand less, so I couldn't pass it up?!. Plus, besides the normal warranty, you can get a whole new frame, (front and rear triangles), for something like $400 thru their crash replacement policy. Pretty sweet for a Freeride bike!
Check out Transition's site, http://www.transitionbikes.com, they got some sweet vids of guys throwing down on these bikes, hopefully, this bike will make me ride like that, cuz we all know it doesn't matter how good you are, it's how good your bike is.... peace out.
Cool, cool, I don't keep up on the freeride stuff anymore so I was just curious. Looks like it should be a fun ride come spring. :)
Buck, you know of any indoor parks in Duluth (or the TC for that matter)? I'm dying to ride and I've still got two more weeks til I leave for Norway...

None in Duluth, but I know there are a couple indoor parks in the cities...if they allow bikes...I don't know maybe a city dweller can speak up here...Well Third lair allows bikes at certain times...that is the only one I can think of.

Hey, is that place open? Can't really tell from the web site. Might be worth a trip over there to check it out. Seems like the ramps are skate/bmx-ish, a little quick in the tranny for 26ers.
Wish we had more outdoor concrete parks around here. There was one in Bozeman we used to hit up regularly on the way home from the bars, at night, when there were no little kids to run into...good times, good times.

Do they allow heathens? :D
This has nothing to do with my build project, but it does have to do with winter.
Crazy french-canucks, wish we had some snow.

I think with that much snow I'd rather go to the golf course and build a booter and huck, but it's still sweet to see people riding in the winter.
So did you get your money back for your season pass, Buck?

Nah, I haven't tried yet...I'm hopin to be able to take the brace off the 14th of Feb...I'm hoping PT people will okay it, cuz they've been kickin that date around...If that happens, there will still be a good portion of the ski season left...but damn all this snow and all my roomies go skiing/boarding every day, and I'm stuck here.............:cryin:

Friday after happy hour my bat-senses were tingling so I rolled over to OoO and sure enough my front rim had come in. Rock-rock-on! So I laced 'er up and Reed tensioned it up with his Jedi skills and just like that, BAM! its done.
So here she is in all her glory, nothing fancy, just a modest double six-shooter FR rig. Still have to get 'er on the scale. Guessing low 40s. Break down: 04 Dirtbag w/ Romic Double Adjust 600# X 2.25" rear shock, 2004 Z150 FR, 36H Abbah on Alex DM24 rear, 32H 'Zocchi qr20 on Alex DM24 front, DT Swiss spokes and nips, 2.5 Kenda Blue Grooves, 203mm Hayes Rotors w/ Avid Mechs. 1x9 SRAM X.7 Drive Train (34T x [11-34]). E-13 STS Chain guide. FSA Cranks, BB, and Headset, Crowbars, Avid levers, ODI Rogue lockons.

That's a sweet ride ya got there. I just bought an '04 Kona Stinky and I can't wait to ride it. I sucks buying a bike in the winter but I couldn't pass on the deal I was getting. Hope to see ya huckin' around with that this summer.:etard:
Yeah man, I go all winter complaining about the lack of snow and then the same day I get my bike finished, it dumps. Guess I got my wish, but I too will have to wait 'til spring. No way I'm taking my new baby out in that salty mess.
On another note, I just saw received and saw the Collective for the first time yesterday, holy schnikies, that movie is the coolest ever.....
I weighed my bike too, only 39~40lbs, lighter than I thought!
Just saw this pic cuisin' Transition's website. It's not so much what they're doing, but just the quality summer day shown. Middle of winter in MN, new bike, lots of snow but no mountains, man I wish it was summer!!
