:alien: greetings again all. im looking to get a new or slightly used but decent condition agro frame from k2...i would prefer the funky monkey but the flyin or brass are ok 2....if your selling id like to talk....acgafner@yahoo.com

maybe some advice on the size too... i am 5-8 and currently ride an 16" avalanche, id like the monkey for trails and some downhill (agressive trail) riding...could I get away with the 14" frame (as I know some are available still) or do I need to go with 16"? My concern is the height of seatpost if I can get one up high enough when im riding trails on the 14....i know that there are some 400 and 410 mm ones out there, would that work? on my avalanche, i currentlly sit about 25" +seat above the center of the bb...would I need to stretch as high on a freeride frame to get the necessary leg extension...
thanks. aclg :alien:

I would say almost for sure you would have to raise it higher then that. DH/FR bikes are designed to be easy to get around, which usually means a tighter cockpit, and low standover height...And I believe the Monkey series was designed for DS/4x/DJ/urban, which means really tight cockpit! One way to get the height you are looking for and still be safe would be to look at the Thomson Telescopic seat post...I've heard lots of good things about it...oh yeah check out Overstock.com, they have the monkey you want complete for 550 I think...

Hey Buck....where can I find out more about this Thomson post? I saw their site and it does not have a Telescopic post on it.

How does it work?

Oh, so it's just a longer post with a QR built into the top of it so you can adjust the inner part. I thought it would be some sort of on the fly spring loaded thing that can be adjusted. There is another post out there that can be adjusted as you ride, but I forgot the name of it.

oops, sorry guys...I'm pretty sure that thompson made one at one point??? Who knows, but yeah it is titec...a seat that adjusts on the fly sounds kinda sketchy...

I was down at e-discountbike.com in Mayer on Tuesday (40 miles away) and they had about 5 bikes they hadn't disassembled from K2 sitting in the bay, plus a lot of parts to build a killer DH laying around. I would give them a call and see what they have. You would probably have to go down there, but when you go down there all kinds of cool things start to fall out of the woodwork and they are more than happy to bring you back into the warehouse and show what cool stuff they have, even if your not necessarly buying that day. These guys seem to be really into riding and they are more than willing to cut you a great deal if you are there in person. It's just fun to stop by, just let them know you are coming so they can accomodate you.

I know they have a few K2 frames already dismantled and hanging.

Have fun, if you can find the time on a week day.

Thanks, i just picked up a flyin monkey frame:banana: , in my size too from ediscount! pretty good price as well. I wanted the funky monkey but it's the same aggro frame none the less...and if I can get enough scratches on it, maybe ill be able to paint it army matte green without the wife looking @ me strange..:alien:

Now im just putting it together and having a blast, it's my first frame up build so im learnign as I go...i ripped down my z4 this weekend, and was wondering if anyone knows about getting longer stanchion tubes to fit into the z4 alloy..? thus making it a longer travel fork. it works as is now, but i though since it's ripped apart???? maybe?

Thanks again, i ll be bak
