i could use some advice on this one..im thinking of getting a k2 flying monkey 2001 (id prefer the frame for a funky monkey but cant find one for 16")
i will be moving to portgual where ill do a lot of decents and aggressive trails, i also like the idea of sitting up a little straighter..so this bike seems like a good choice after reading many reviews. I will be doing trails, some mountain road, downhill and village (urban) riding in serious terrain. any other frame types would be appreciated as well, but i like the price of the k2 frames

My concern:

anyway, im wondering about the replaceable derailleur hanger, as k2 stopped making this bike. how are these things for being interchangeable with hangers from other companies?, as I wonder how long k2 would be able to supply one in the event of a serious bend, my concern is that id have to replace the frame in a couple years if this happened...anyway, any help would be great, plus if you know anyone selling a 16" funky that would help too....ediscount bikes only has the 14"
thanks

I wouldn't simply b/c you are travelling abroad with it...look for a company that is sure to have dealers in Europe, otherwise K2 used to be the big FR company in the late 90s like 97-99. The Monkey is a fairly good bike, but doesn't have a great company backing it up in my opinion. I would look else where and pack a bunch of hangers if you break that many...that's my .02 cents

Id check to see if there any "generic" hangers that will fit the frame first. Since its not a K2 Full boinger id say go for it, Ive played on some and they feel great, its about the only K2 I would ever want anyone to ride :)
