If there is anyone that rides biketrials, in any level, please contact me. I am in a search for riders, looking to organize some things. If you think there is a different forum to post this under, please let me know.

Thanks,

sorry rowland, i guess we didn't tell you but this site is directed towards riding bikes . doesn't and shouldn't make any difference what kind.

imo, as long as it deals with bikes and trails, it's cool here...

Trials looks sweet  Have there been any events scheduled here in MN. I don't do trials but it's cool to watch.

Thanks Jason,

I'm new to this site, and am actually moving back to the MN from TX very soon. Trials is big down here.

Back in the day I used to organize some urban/trials rides in downtown MPLS and at the UofM. I even hosted a couple comps in Red Wing.

I'm hoping there are maybe new riders since then. This coming spring and summer I will be setting up urban rides again, and anyone is welcome to come.

Here in Dallas, we would have up to 25 - 30 riders on a Friday night consisting of Trials, FR, DH, and even XC guys, then go hit the bar for a bit. Its a lot of fun.

Spread the word if ya know anyone. I'm going to be getting in touch with my old co-workers at Eriks as well, so some shop intel might help too.

Later,

TA

i've never done trials, but i have thought about getting a trials bike.

i have a friend that's in a motorcycle trials club here in town and i think that stuff is incredable.

i think i might have to sneak another bike in the house now:confused:

Oh yea. You can never have too many bikes IMO...sometimes, I think I have too many, but then nah...

 Use the excuse, "This one serves a different purpose, I can't use my other one for that."

ta,

there was a big trials demo/comp at the welch norba natls many years ago. i tried to find them later for a demo in dulluth and had no luck. try a google search, might have better luck than i did.

Oh yea, I was actually there in Welch for that. Talk about years back...lol. That year sucked cause it got rained out, and then NORBA decided to drop the trials part of things. Oh well.

A couple years after that national, I hosted a trials comp with the "Muddy River Rock-n-Roll" race in Redwing. The turn out was quite good. I think between 10 and 12 riders attended, all from MN and WI. It was a great time.

I don't know if I'm that great at it, but i like to hope around on things. I've tought about purchasing a cheaper trials bike. Still looking into that one. Any suggestions. I'd be interested in going for a ride if one is set up.

I owned a Monty X-Hyrda about three or four years ago. After awhile though I didn't have anyone to ride with and I stopped improving and lost interest. Now I wish (just like every bike I've owned) I hadn't sold it on Ebay.

I do a lot of importing from China/Tawain so maybe I can see about getting a sample generic trials bike for next summer. There are always a few in the big Tawain Bicycle Book.

I'm not a huge trials rider but I do have fun going out and trying various things. Most of which, I miserably fail at but none-the-less. . . It's fun just to play on different things. I'd be up for going out and joining in on a group ride. If nothing else I'd probably learn a little from those a LOT better than myself.

Welcome to the discussion boards Trialsaddict!

Seems like Trials gets a bad rap.

I've heard negative comments from some mountain bikers (most notibly Zap Espinosa) about trials which I never understand, seems like pretty cool stuff to me especially when the skills are used in combination with free-ride or XC.

Zap, HAR i dont think that guy likes much........ Trials are so fun to watch! There is usually quite a few trials riders out at the 24 hours of 9 mile playing around on the rocks and whatever they drove in on, but there is nothing like doing a race, coming to a rock garden and seeing some trials guys that are racing stop and take a "race break" to mess around on the rocks!

BuckTHREAD HIJACK!!! I've been wanting to know this for a while. Anyone else wonder where Buck gets all his energy and enthusiasm from? I do. And they say the younger generation doesn't care or get involved. HAH! Keep it up, Buck. Mountain biking, in all its fun and freaky forms, needs more like you.

This Red Wing comp you mention, was that the one were you entered into angrement with the M.R.R.R. staff. I'm wondering, how did the prizes and cleanup effort go for you. Oh wait it didn't.

Wow, its great to see the response. I will get a ride going this coming year for sure.

Yea, trials sometimes gets a bad rap, but I think its just because someone doesn't understand or they are stuck on "their" style of riding. I say, if its a bike, cool.

I've seen many different trials related sites, but the best one by far is www.observedtrials.net (http://www.observedtrials.net) . There is a lot of good info on there. We have our own "Midwest" forum, so you can find rides there as well.

Thanks for the welcome to the site. I look forward to catching up with everyone soon.

I forgot, but does anyone know of a good location where I can find a large amount of rocks? I've been away for a while, so I can't think of where to start looking. Thanks in advance,

TA

This is kind of what I'm looking for:

I ride trials and have a Mod bike. I don't do it much because not many people ride trials around here. I would love to find others to ride with.....that would be very fun.

I would like to find a place to go in the winter, but for now I just ride my BMX freestyle bike at the local skateparks that allow them.

Hey manual63,

What kind of mod you riding? Great to hear btw. I ride both stock and mod. I agree with having a place to ride indoors. I've actually been thinking about that and looking into options. It might not be heated, but its a place to ride away from the snow and wind.

What indoor skate parks are there now days? I remember the old 3rd Lair park back in the day... Used to ride my GT Tour there. Feel free to PM me regarding some trials stuff.

TA My bike is a Ross. I bought it in the late 90's. It's pretty light, but has some cheap parts on it. I just upgrade what I break. So far, that's been the cranks and pedals, but I am worried about the bars and stem.

3rd Lair is out in Golden Valley and allows bikes on some days. There is a new park in Chanhassen. It's called JSAW......at www.jsaw.com (http://www.jsaw.com). It stands for Jesus Snow Aspalt Water. I have not been there yet, but I heard it's good. I sure hope they let Atheists ride there.

I will PM you for riding, but if you find an indoor spot to ride in the winter, let me know.

That's a tough game. I lean forward and land on my head. I lean backwards and land on my head. I think the object of the game is to see how often you can land on your head.........:crazy2:

Its good to see that there is a good bunch that enjoy trials or would at least enjoy trying it!! As far as I can tell, trials is accepted better up here than it is in the southern part of the country. People just don't understand much down there, or so it seemed. Anyways, I'd like to know if there is still interest in getting a group together to ride anything urban, trials free etc etc... currently in the Southwest portion of the state building up a list of places to ride down here, so hit me up!
