I talked to someone who said Dakota COunty closed the trails on Dec. 1. Ran into the park people out there who claimed they always close on Dec. 1 and that MORC knew. Did I miss the post??

Ted - was planning on riding tomorrow before it thawed.....I remember riding there during past Decembers. There was no fencing or signs indicating that the trails were closed. There wasn't enough snow for CC skiing (just like now).

I hope this isn't true!

I just saw it with my own two eyes!! Orange snow fence blocking the entrances. It is a sad day indeed.

December 1 has always been the official closing date for Leb. I will speak to Terry Vickla Monday to see if it still OK to ride the trails as long as there is no snow on the ground. Regardless of snow or no snow I will be shutting off the teeter this week. It is a bit dangerous with snow and such--don't want to ruin a good thing.

This afternoon, I went to Leb for a walk, and to re-GPS a section where I had goofy readings. (I'll post something as soon as I can get them plotted nicely.)

Unfortunately, it looked like two bikers had ridden the trail today. There were definitely new ruts on some of the climbs, and on some of the downhills. When I got back, there was a van leaving. My wife said that there was a bike inside that, at a glance, looked like it had wet tires. This was around 3pm, and the trails were a sloppy mess! I didn't recgnize the van or the person. There was also a car with bike racks in the lot. Hopefully, the person was just hiking.

It's a shame that we need to close the trails, but some people don't use common sense.
