I know this isn't a trail riding question, but am hoping somebody can help out.

I'm trying to determine a safe route from Uptown MPLS to Hopkins. Hopkins has some paved trails on the railroad tracks and Uptown has the Greenway going west past Lake Calhoun, but my question is how to make them meet. I don't really wish to take my life in my hands by riding a stretch on Highway 7 during rush hours, but need to figure this out so I can drop my automobile.

Anybody out there make this commute? If there is a website that shows how to make this connection just point me towards it, but everything i can find doesn't show west beyond Lake Calhoun.

Those two trails are connected, just keep going east on the paved path from Hopkins (the LRT Trail South of Excelsior), the worst part is crossing Excelsior.

Yup, the LRT trail through Hopkins becomes the greenway trail! =) It's actually a direct, straight shot to Uptown, in fact. You probably have one of the most convenient bike commutes in the cities, in fact.

Check out the trail on this map:

(edit: damn you, Sean!)
