Another weekend and a few boards later, the new re-routes at the River Bottoms are progressing nicely. Today we fortified the substructure and laid the decking, posts are in the works as you can see. Steve, Josh, Don and Yours Truly put the test to numerous batteries operated power tools (draining all) and then sending them off with Michelle for a recharge. All in all, a good days work and still managed to get in a ride!!!

While we were drilling, sawing and banging nails we had a surprise guest. I guess someone forgot to tell him it's Deer Hunting Season!!! Not that he was afraid of us as he passed within 25 feet of our location. While riding with my wife Nita, less than an hour later, in the same location we passed him again, this time with a Doe almost his same size. What a day.

It took about a day and a half. Next time, I'm bringing a heavier sledge with a wooden or plastic handle. Between that fiberglass handle and too-light splitting maul, it was pretty shattering.
