Is the memorial trail still open this weekend (11/13 11/14)?

When does hunting start there?

Thanks,

I think I have some answers...

1. Hunting actually started up on the bluff middle of September... though it's archery only. I am 99.9999% sure that there isn't any rifle or slug season up there...

2. Hunting is prohibited between 10 am and 2 pm everyday... so you should be able to get in a darn good ride without worrying about a stray arrow or proabbly more likely, ticking off a hunter.

3. Last weekend when it was really sweet weather I wanted to head up there both Sat. and Sunday since it's like 5 miles away. The gates were locked. I hvae no idea why, and I didn't have the ambition to call the city. I'll drive by tonight or tomorrow to see if they are still locked. I did see at least one vehicle parked at the entrance of the park, so you could always bike up the access road. Also, possibly parking at Mississippi NAtional Golf Links would work and come up the back side...

Gus or Kris may know more official news... but to sum up... it's open... but watch out for stray arrows anytime other than between 10 and 2....

P.S. Lotsa leaves all over the trail last time I was up there (week and a half ago about), but trail is in great shape.

Memorial trail is open. The hunting is from on from dawn until 10 a.m. and starts again at 2 p.m going til dusk. Kinda sucks having such a narrow window of opportunity for riding, but them's the breaks as they say. Things may be a bit rough up there as we haven't been able to schedule much in the way of trail work due to the hunting schedulem Might be up there Sunday doing some signing though. Hope to see everyone!

Kris,

I'll probably either be biking Memorial on Sunday.. or if you need a hand with signage or anything else let me know. The trails weren't too rough last time I was there other than a climb or two was impossible for me with all the leaves taking away traction (still having my semislicks on don't help either). I could rake some hills/sections if that would help... let me know.

I'm usually not one to turn down help, but this time I'm going to recommend that you enjoy what my be one of the last good weekends of riding until Spring. I don't know for sure when or if I'll be up on the hill this weekend as I have house projects to finish. Also, it's that time of year when we sort of taper off the trail work in favor of getting out and riding as much as possible before the snow flies and the skiis come out. Stay tuned, though as we are working on some projects that will begin early Spring (city approval pending of course) and at that time we'll be begging you to help.

If, however, you feel like wielding a rake rather than the bike we will never tell anyone that they can't, or shouldn't, rake away some of the offending leaves on the trail. My only request is that, with the snow soon to be falling, you enjoy at least one lap of riding before the rake comes out of the truck! Thanks.

Thank you both for the info..
We will more than likely stay around the TC's this weekend now because of the ride window.

I'd also like to say thanks for a great trail, it's a lot of fun!

For the work next year, are you talking about adding on to memorial or a new area to build around there? Either way, sounds great to me!

Thanks again,

Great day for a ride, saw a "bunch" of other riders out there too (for Memorial standards... usually I see no one else except the random dog walker) and a couple hunters tracking a deer.

Hope the guy on the singlespeed who biffed horrifically (by sound at least) is alright...:crazy2: I couldn't keep up with the group he was in, so I'm guessing nothing was broke.. they were flying (at least for me)

The trails are in great shape, so if you get a chance to head down before the snow flies, it will be worth it.

Yes, The trail is still open. Again the oficial times are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rest of the day is reserved for hunters. I myself have seen any up there yet but, it sounds like others have. Ride safe and enjoy.
