...the reworked section of trail just north of 55, south of the tracks, in terms of hooking up with the balance of the revamped trails.
We rode there Sunday night and could still pass through the fencing and over the tracks and then through the fencing again to hook up with the main section.
I didn't see any bypass path taking us back out to the parkway and over the bridge. Is it there yet? Maybe I just missed it in the dark.

It's not there yet, hopefully it will be working on it this weekend.

We only worked on Zone 3a, hence the reason you were still able to ride through the fence. We will continue work on 3a this Sunday, got some cleaning up to do.
The trail will end up getting routed up to the pave trail and using the bridge to cross the railroad tracks.

Rode the trail for the first time this afternoon. You guys rock!!! what a great time I had riding this trail. I was surprised at how much slower it rode than I thought it would when we were doing the design work. Flow on the rebuilt trail is excellent, sustainability is good and above all it is fun to ride.

Is the trail work the City of Lakes Loppet Foundation is doing at Wirth having any effect on the trails MOCA is building? I know COLLF had a trail work day a week or so ago. Where were they working?

...great work MOCA/MORC. Rode it again last night. The newer sections are already firming up nicely very fast and flowy.
I forgot to mention I came across a mom and two 3-5 y.o. boys on the trail off 55/Wirth Pkwy the other night. Slowed to a crawl and slowly passed them. I heard her say something to the effect of "...oh, so that's where all these bike tracks are coming from...", entirely oblivious to the fact that she was on a MTB trail. This was on the entirely new section that is the gradual climb up and into that area.
I'm surprised that a local was not aware of this. I know you guys have done a ton of work already but when are signs going up? Just trying to avoid bike-on-mom/kid collisions at all costs.

Is there going to be a notice on the MOCA site soon about Sunday trailwork? From this post I assume that we will be working the same area, just South of the tracks.

:D All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
...entirely oblivious to the fact that she was on a MTB trail.
I don't think it is ever going to be a MTB-Only trail, right?
I was under the impression it is a hike/bike/run trail, but the hikers and runners should expect to encounter MTBers (just as we should expect to see hikers/runners).
Anyone have an official answer?

Pete, you are correct sir. This is a multiuse trail. We are going to try to get some signage in that hikers walk in the opposite direction of the mountain bikers.

Cool. That's a really good idea.

....I have a friend that is a big trail runner and is seriously concerned about what's going on at Wirth re MOCA. I keep telling him that MOCA is making things better, but he views it as a risk/detriment.
Whether multi-use or single purpose, the signage will be helpful. I keep riding into a lot of bikers that are either lost or going the wrong direction. Not sure how they're getting lost as I think the route is distinct but the directional thing is a lingering issue.

Signs are on the way - but we can't do it until we're done next spring - the city has approved entrances and exits that have to completed before we can designate an official loop. In the meantime, there are temporary signs that explain why trails have been closed and why there's new trail.(It's a pilot project for MTB).
Any beginner/intermediate trail will be marked as multi-use - expert trails will be bike only - so we'll be sharing quite a bit of trail (as we always have). I hope this doesn't turn into a bigger issue as trail use goes up - but it may just work itself out.
Personally, as we have seen in the past with the illegit trails - the day after you build a trail, walkers will claim it as always being theirs (I've had those on-trail arguments ). It's funny that a mother is walking a trail that didn't exist last week - and is surprised to see a bike.
We'll just have to take the higher ground and be as polite as possible. We're sharing space that's in high demand.
