I did some bunny hops on Adams bike by compessing the suspension. What are some pointers for jumping with a FS bike?

Do you push down and compress the suspension as you ride up the transition, then pull up and release it as you launch off the lip, front wheel first then rear wheel? To me, this would seem like the logical way to do it.

Hey Shad,
It is called Preloading, I don't really know how to explain but you have the basic idea right! Now all you have to do is get on a big bike and you will pick it up b/c of neccassity(sp?) If you have ever ridden a dirt bike it is the same as that, once you are on a bike, you will start to learn to control it too, when you need to preload a ton and when you just need a little boost...makes for some fun times...;)

I jumped on my Suzuki DR-350 before. I didn't have to preload much because I think kicking in the throttle as you go off the lip pretty much compressed it automatically. Jumping a dirt bike is a lot of fun. I need to get another one, because I sold the one I had.

i have found that jumping and bunny hopping on a fs bike is alot like ollieing(sp) on a skateboard... pull back compressing the rear and lifting the front up, then using your arms to lift up and forward(like your front foot on a board) then just keep your weight on top of the bike while your in the air. don't know if i helped much but i think you will understand what i mean.

compress on the face of the jump and pull up off the lip.. I've found that slowing my rebound way down helps me out.

For straight drops (no jumps), for me, preloading the suspension and then moving my weight back and not lifting up so much works the best.

Preload the suspension on the lip. Easiest thing to do is to push the bike into the lip of the jump (bend your legs and kind of squat) and quickly straighten them. No need to really yank on the bars or to j-hop off the lip. It will get you a bit higher but if your not comfortable with it, you may screw up and land on your head. The best jumping tip I can give...do something while in the air. Try an x-up, pull the front wheel up, kick out the rear, take a foot off, wave to your mom...just do something. Nothing worse than a dead-sailor 5-10ft in the air. And heavy tires on a big bike seem to help me control the weight a bit better while in the air.

Here's a pic of friend on a Foes DHS Mono with a Shiver. The guys about 170 and the bikes about 45 and he had no trouble throwing it around on DJ's.

yeah man I weight in at 140 and my bike is 50, I have no problem throwin mine around, I think the best thing you can do is ride and figure out your own style that works for you, eventually it will just happen, I've even been workin on spins, but my wheels are starting to show it!!!
