Its different but i like it! I say any bike that fits you well and you love to ride with one gear makes a good single speed no matter what it is!

how weird would that be to have the rear slip and have the front grip and pull you up a hill or thru a turn - they're supposed to rock in winter too - over

Ive actually rode a prototype bike of this style when i was working at a shop. The idea is sound, but in all practicallity i dont think its worth it or needed for the off road market except in small brands. They feel really odd to ride though, kinda like you said about the slipping part. You can be completly awkward on your center of gravity and have all your weight forward while doing obstacles and you go over them just fine. The ones in the link are almost the exact same thing i tried, i should get ahold of the guy that had the one i rode and see what happened with it!

from what i've read the off road mc is supposed to have a more pronounced benefit - the mags are saying it's going to turn the sport up side down - riders are for the most part from missouri, if you know what i mean - if i had alot of cake to throw around i think it would be a great ride for winter time - but of course i dont have cake and im done now - over

They tend to say that about a lot of things though :( Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Yeah i agree if i had some cash lying about extra like i might try one out. Just wonder how heavy they are, the one i tried was a tank!
