I need to put a new handlebar on my road bike. I've got all of the parts, and have enough experience working on mountain bikes that I'm pretty sure I can do the work myself. My only question: what's the best way to put handlebar tape on?
And are there any hidden pitfalls I should be looking for?

Look at how your old tape was put on and follow that in reverse. I start at the end of the bar and work my way back towards the stem. Try to keep it tight, and when you get to the hoods for the brake/shifters, use a figure 8 pattern to wrap around that whole mess. I also use a little black electrical tape to hold the finished ends down on the bar. Good luck.
