I just got a pair of Crankbrother Candy C's (yellow) from Performance. Went out for a test ride at Terrace Oaks and noticed they seemed a bit tigh, but didn't think much of it until I dropped it on the expert section downhill switchback.

Nada big deal but my feet wouldn't come out and HAD TO TAKE MY SHOE OFF in order to free myself. ..sheesh!

Anyway, I sprayed some bug spray in the spring and this helped temporarily.

Otherwise the pedals are schweet, but I need a more permanent solution. Any recommendations on adjustments to the pedals or the cleats for easier entry/exit? Thanks!

The cleats can be mounted for easy exit or holding power. Check which direction you mounted them. Other than that, I would say just ride around and clip in and out, they do break-in and get easier to clip out of.Ted

I have Candy pedals also. If they are too tight you might want to put the spacer thingies (shims) in there which fit between the sole of the shoe and the cleat. It is possible that your shoe is too tight against the pedal, especially if the sole of your shoe is very tight against the pedal. I have the cleats mounted in the "easy" config and it is very easy for me to get out. My shoe does not require the shims.

Thanks! I checked my cleat config and they're now in the "easy" config, which just changes the release angle from 20deg to 15deg. Also, the cleats are installed. Still very tight (...still smelling of bug spray:sick: ).

I broke down and read the manual. It says that there isn't an adjustment on tightness so I need to trim my Northwave shoes. Can you say Dremel tool? I'll let you know how the operation goes...

I have a pair of Mallet C's and they were tight to begin with... Lube 'em up good and they should break in and be a bit looser.

Yeah try cutting back a little bit on the rubber around the pedal. This has helped people I know with both Eggbeaters and also Time ATAC's....
