Did someone approve the removal of the plastic grate on the trail with the 90 degree turn to the left on the downhill to the blacktop trail. Was there last night riding and came to this area to find it all gone. With the recent rain, we are starting to get some ruts forming. If it is not addressed this part of the trail will be wiped out. I'm willing to help with a solution to this problem since I seem to ride hear quite alot. I would hate to see this trail go to pot, it's a fun section to ride. Didn't know who to address this to, so hear it is for all to read.:embarass:

I think they had a trail session last Saturday or the Saturday before last that was to work on that area. The plastic grating has really gotten really bad out there and I think that is why they pulled it out. If you do some searching I think there was a post dealing with that session, or maybe it was an email I got.
Seems I haven't had an open Saturday in eons. Gotta work on that.

There was an official trailwork session last Saturday, we pulled the plastic matting out and started rock armoring the turn/descent, and yeah, it was extremely torn and came out mostly in shards. On the flip side, it did seem to do the job in reducing the effect of erosion on the hillside. The areas that had been matted looked pretty good. There was a furrow forming to the inside area of the trail that had not been covered.
We had enough stone to do the top approach, the turn itself, and the apron immediately below the turn, as well as the runout by the bottom 4x4. There are still a couple of segments that will need to be re-visited on a future trailwork session. Steve mentioned that this would happen either later in Sep, or sometime in Oct.
We also put in some rocks on the trail on the north rim of the Ravine......

Cool enough, just wanted to make sure it was authorized through MORC. Seen the rock garden on the start of the north rim. Looks good, but people are still going around it. Don't know if that was the intension or as an alternate to the rock garden. All in all the trails were in good shape. Thanks for the info guys.:)

Wish I was around to help. I've been gone so much on the weekends lately. Maybe I can make the next work session, hopefully.

We put in the rocks with the intention of them being rideable, with a REALLY obvious alternate line due to limited space in that area.

There were 6 of us out there, and it was just enough to get everything done in the time allowed w. the materials we had on hand. I think the agenda for the next session is to finish armoring the area we started working on last weekend, as well as doing some erosion work on the switchback climb off of Pt Douglass Rd.
.....hauling lots of rocks again.......
