I just want to thank everyone involved with setting up the Laddies' Loppet this weekend. It was my first time at this event and it was a blast! The course is fantastic and I only wish I could have seen all of the course.
We didn't get to ride the Lake Drops due to the rain. It was rumored that 3 1/2 inches of rain showed up for the weekend. I didn't stay the night before. Instead I awoke to thunder and rain and made the drive in the pouring rain. It was done raining as we got close and looked to be great weather as we warmed up. At the start of the race it was still pretty nice and then shortly after the start it rained lightly. Then near the end of our 3rd lap it was pouring.
The trail was a nice mix of technical singletrack and open doubletrack. There were a couple climbs on the doubletrack and then back into the singletrack. The singletrack was awesome! Technical - but not TOO technical. There were a couple drops that were tough due to the weather, and some climbs that would have been nice power climbs, but because of the rain, took more time.
There was even a guy out on the course taking some video and then showed the footage on a tv immediately after the race inside the lodge.
The resort itself is great. Staff is friendly. I for sure want to stay the night there next year.
The weather made things a little slippery and very wet, but nothing like the Cherry Bomb. But I had similar results as the Cherry Bomb! This weekend was my best placed finish of the season, with Cherry Bomb being my 2nd best. I guess I like the wet muddy races! Or maybe nobody shows up.....
Thanks again to everyone involved with the race this weekend, I had a great time and will be there next year for sure!
Holy cow!!! The Corporate Punk beat the Grizz.:crazy2: Just kidding.
Congrats to Adam and Andy for finishing so very high in the MNSCS this year. You guys are awesome.:etard:

Anyone think there is some seperation between the two best riders in the state and the rest? :)

LOL - thanks Roger! I like to think that I would have caught him had I not burped my front tire down to 5psi on my last lap....
(Okay - maybe not caught him, but at least had him in my sights again....)

No kidding! I wonder if it would have been different had it not rained all night....I was fortunate enough to pass a couple expert riders due to the conditions - he he - okay, I'm done bragging.....
The Grizzly loves it when it's cold and muddy! (did I say that already?!)

Nothing's better for the Ego than passing experts who started a min ahead of you…..Of course they still had a lap to do as it started raining even harder. I managed to miss the finish chute for the second year in a row, I just can't see through the "red mist:evil:" in that last section. So I blow through start finish and realize I'm dumb and turn around an go through the chute. Both years I had nice strong finish, really putting the hurt to the guy behind me, only to give up a spot to them as they find their way down the finish chute. There’s some good pics (go Sioux) on http://skinnyski.com/ with some video’s to follow. If they put up the Expert Short track you should watch that, you see about one lap ….and then sideways rain.

Yeah - I was glad that I was done after 3. I got stuck in the downpour the last quarter lap or so.
Thanks for the link for the pics. Didn't know those were out there.

Thanks to everyone involved... the Richards family, Greg Blasko, et al.
Greg (ames) - nice race man. Next year it's expert for both of us you know....
One could argue that Grizz needs to upgrade too. :)
Who knows? Maybe you could see me racing a few races next year in a BCR jersey.

Yea, no more excuses..time to move up and be happy with finishing within 30min of the winner. Now that my confidence is high, it’s time to do the first collegiate MTB race later this week and get slapped back into my place.

I rode the full, uncut expert course on Saturday, and if there's a square inch of my ass that it didn't kick, I haven't found it. I will admit to being in less than ideal shape, and I'm a lot more clydesdale than thoroughbred. But the singletrack down by the lake was ruthless and relentless. Especially if, like me, you got out of your rhythm early. Think a much longer version of Brownie Lake and you've got the basic idea.
Major props to Jay and all involved with the race. And for anyone who so much as finished, you rock.

HA HAAA!
There was actually one spot where I literally bounced between the trees just to get through. I think by the 3rd lap the Onzas had made some cut-outs so we could get through easier.
