So as I was hitting some dirt jumps in this wooded area that nobody owns and local kids make jumps for bmx bike. Well as I looked to my left I found an area that looks like it might have been a trail already its not that big at all but it could be something interesting. I already cleared the sticks and leaves, I also trimmed up a few weeds over growing the trail with help from a friend. We added some logs half way in to the ground to make it more enjoyable. The trail has some ups and downs then a three foot drop off then it winds back up around a tree then down a really steep hill.
Does anyone know any tips I can help make this trail even better or maybe even adding on?

Do it right, find out who has ownership of the land. Go through the process of getting permission and then your efforts for improving the trail will be viewed in a positive manner rather than just a bunch of @#%^ mountain bikers making a mess of someone's land.
Also all the work effort you put into building the trails will not be destroyed when the landowner "discovers" your trail and shuts down access to the area.
When it comes to land access the old adage "it is better to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission" definitely does not apply. Do it right, get permission, layout a trail that is fun, sustainable and above all LEGAL!
If you need any help let me know.

Go to the city hall and find out who owns the land. Then when you find out who owns the land, talk to that person about your plans. Try to go through the right channels. Otherwise it's an illegal trail, and that only hurts us all in the long run.

I know that someone else has probably mentioned this previously, but read the article on building illegal trails in this months Bike Magazine. It will definitely make you want to get permission first!!!:fool:
