As some of you remember, I was hit by a minivan while riding my brand new bike to work about 3 weeks ago....Well I still have no bike, all I really need to ride is a new wheel. There are other things scratched and ripped, but to ride this is all I need. The insurance company keeps making up excuses for this or that, I have given up on trying to get a new bike, I just want to get my wheel fixed so I can start riding again, its going to snow before the insurance company makes up thier mind. I have talked to my lawyer a few times, but since we never called the police and there wasnt a report taken, it would be my word against hers, even though she hit me, unless she would admit it in court.

So, I talked to the shop where I bought the bike, a new wheel (same one it came with) would be $150 I think they said. but they wouldnt be able to order it until this Friday...any suggestions? Can I buy the rim part and transfer everything over to it? I mean, I couldnt do it but it can be done for cheaper than a whole new wheel right? The wheels that came with my bike are Alex TD-17 with Disc brakes.

What can I do?, anyone?, I would really like to ride this weekend...if someone could help me out with transfering parts over, I will gladly pay you for it....any other suggestion so I may ride this weekend would be appreciated....Thanks!

Scott,

if all that it needs is a new rim and spokes, hub, skewer, and brake rotor still good, Stop by Gene and Reed down at One-on-One and see if they might have a spare bare rim in the shop that they could build up for you. If they do, it would probably be your quickest, cheapest option.

This could also be done at almost any shop, but I recomend Gene because I think they are the most likely the ones to have something lying around to work with.

Thanks James....

But I went and picked my bike up and ordered a brand new wheel, with an upgraded hub. I figured atleast I could ride, and have something better than what came with the bike...
