A while back I bought a neat rack made by Kryptonite. It carries U-locks underneath the rack platform. I have always hated carrying my lock and thought this might be the easy to use answer.

Here in lies the problem, I can't put the damn thing on my bike. Again, this could be my lack of wrenching knowledge. The only holes I can find to put the rack's screws through are the disc brake mounting holes. The screws hit the cassette and in doing so causes obivous problems on non-movement of the cassette.

My bike was obviously not built for a rack as it does not have a place for the upper rack mounts either. Would it work to use the seat QR for the upper bracing?

Thanks for the help oh great bike wrenchers.

There are (at least there used to be) mounts for bikes without rack braze-ons. They're small strips of bent metal with a hole on either end that where rubber-coated. They bend around the frame and attach the rack to the seat stays. Call around - I'm sure a good shop that sells racks would have them. Or, you could always rig it up at a hardware store too.
