I rode the river bottoms Sunday ,Aug.22. What a great trail , as always. Trail had been groomed , raft worked good, plenty of people riding this scenic river trail. BUT!!! It just takes a few who can mess it up for all of us. Sunday all kinds of riders were present on the west side of the river bottoms. I think that's great. However, If your sooooooo fast that you can't warn folks your coming you could ruin it for all of us. It was just a few riders but as fast as they were going, you have to warn fellow riders. I will gladly move over. I've done enough races and many times had to move over for faster riders. THE GOOD ONES ALWAYS LET YOU KNOW ! I witnessed two hikers jumping out of the way for a very fast oncoming rider. Give'em a brake. Your heart rate won't disappear! We keep this up and it will be paved!

Bill,

Any chance that the riders that you saw were wearing a local shop team jersey? Or happened to be on cyclocross bikes?

Please let us know as it is a known problem that the park service would like to hear about.

Thanks
James

I didn't see any local colors. These guys were not new to going fast. Sidi shoes was all i caught a glimpse of . The guy that i thought was out of hand was all done up in Trek stuff , including a Fuel 100. He was coming at me full speed and several others. Why? Like I said I don't mind giving space but at high speeds you need a little time to do it. Thanks for the input James. I just don't want to lose this great trail.

Some Sidi's? Is that all it takes? They don't seem to be working for me!!

That's all it takes! I've ordered a couple pair! If that doesn't help, i'am getting a nice long bungee cord and i"ll try and hook on for a fast ride. :crazy2:

I will be riding patrol on the River Bottoms today (9/4) from roughly 10:30 to whenever. Will be handing out IMBA "Responsible Riding Tips" cards (Generously supplied to the Backcountry Patrol by REI) and otherwise being a general nuisance to discourteous riders.

Ride safe,

I think that's great. For all of us users of all trails . Thanks for your time in this matter. Now if we could come up with a card for all those bad drivers ! I'am not sure it would be safe handing them out.:crazy2:
