View Full Version : Fort Snelling State Park
Anyone ever ride around here? I have seen some maps along the south end around 494 and along Long Meadow Lake. Most of the maps I have seen here have been damaged and are tough to read. If anyone has the map I would really like one.

Thats where i learned how to mtn bike! Unfortunatly the good parts by the river are now a dog park, so riding is more or less out there. There are a few upper trails that are still good to ride though. You just have to really be midful of hikers ect.. when riding there because the upper trails are narrow and shoot right out to the paved trail. It is a really fun place to go if you have limited time to ride. You may want to try the Crosby pond area too, right across the river from Ft Snelling, its down by the boat marina, its short as well but packs a punch and is really fun, ya just have to do quite a few laps of it to get some miles in, but still the best inner city riding opposite of Wirth!

Thanks Nigel!
I haven't run into much of anyone on these trails so far but am always respectful of the people around me. Three of us hit the trails south of 494 along Long Meadow tonight and it was still pretty dry even after the rain. We started by the wildlife building and rode along the west side of the river and crossed @ 77 and came back up the east side and back across 494. It is really flat but you can really get moving. I will have to check out Crosby, I haven't heard of it before...Maybe Sunday.
Thanks again!

Yeah 4 works.......can you get to the hidden falls parking lot by the Ford Plant? Meet at the table by the boat landing? That way we can get a ride to the trails first. Youll see the parking lots on the way too for the other spots. Gimmie a shout Sunday 612-702-2781 Ill be able to answer from 5am-10am then after 2pm.

By Fort Snelling park do you mean south of the river on Black Dog Road? There's a little park there that is also called Fort Snelling. By the sounds of it however you where riding on the north side of Long Meadow lake. The Cedar ave bridge will put you south of Long Meadow Lake.
