Where to camp

Some friends and I are thinking of heading down to Holzinger this weekend. Where is a good place to camp near there? Showers would be a plus, but I don't mind washing up in a lake/river as long as it is at least cleaner than I am.

The closest to place I can think of are Praire Island and Pla-mor.

Pla More is a KOA campground that is south of Winona on 61 (five to ten miles out of town) that is your basic KOA campground style camping, my parents friends own it and I have always thought it is fairly well run.

There is also camping right on the river at Praire Island, which would also probably be the cheapest way to go. They love to pack you in especially the RV's and the place can be loud at night. If you are tenting w/o electical you'll have better options though because most people are RV campers here and the tenters are off to a different section. Take Huff street off 61 towards the river and follow it all the way till you are heading back (what seems like north) along the river. Take the first right turn Praire Island Road (I think) to the right and continue to the grounds.

Thanks for the info and the link. I think we are just going to print out the locations to all of them and them tour around til we find one we like. It is looking like great weather for camping/biking. Hopefully it stays that way (knocking on some wood).
