Everyone, this an awesome trail! I am still a beginner to off-road biking, but of the few trails I've ridden, this one rocks.
I still have not been able to finish this trail. I've been on it twice and had to hop on the service road each time. Do riders take breaks on the trail? I stopped for about 3-4 minutes twice yesterday, but felt I should keep moving. I ended up too winded when I got to the bigger hills toward the end and had to hop off the trail(about 7/8 of the way based on the map).:cryin: My plan is to eventually finish this monster. Any advice on breaks or speed on the trail would be appreciated.
Anyway, the trail is a great ride. Congrats to those who have put in the hard work.

I'm glad you like it, it's one of my favorits too. I consider it my "Home" trail as well since I'm from Albertville, same as you! I'll be riding today and racing there tomorrow. Believe it or not, people complete a lap in about 30 min! I can only get down to about 42 min. As far as breaks, I used to take them, still do sometime, but not so much anymore. Don't take it too hard right away, take it easy and just try to finish. After you work up your endurance you'll be able to complete it faster. Just keep riding, you'll get into it.
If you think this is a good trail, you should ride Milaca or better yet Lebennon. Hillside will quickly become second! :D
As a note, the trail will be cleared very soon so you won't get hit by all the plants.

Thanks for the info. I had about 45 minutes into it, when I hopped off the trail. I'm going back on Saturday to give it another run.

I think it took me about 50 minutes to complete a loop last year when I rode it. I recall it being a lot tighter than Lebanon with a lot more climbing. I managed to get a free ride cause I went during one of the uni races, I just rode the trail after the race was over (they had reserved the park all day I guess). I think it is a fun but demanding trail.

Im no expert here by any means, but this is what ive found. If your just going out for the fun of it, dont push too big of gears. Even using the grany ring a lot, I can complete a lap in a bit under 50 min....hope thats enough for the race tommoro:cool: .
I agree that it's a very good trail. I still nead to hit up leb and millaca, but for now its doing me good.
Have fun out there.

Anyway, the trail is a great ride. Congrats to those who have put in the hard work. I consider it my home trail as well. I live in Princeton and drive right by it everyday. I ride there about twice a week.. I used to take breaks too, but now my fastest lap is 38 minutes and I usually ride three laps each time I go out. This trail burned 50lbs off of me and has honed my bike skills. My tip is try to keep your corner speeds up and use your momentum to help power up the hills. Momentum is the key to guick laps here. It also conserves your energy so you can finish without breaks. I hope I see you out there. I drive a dirty purple Neon. Say hi if you see me.:crazy2:

I agree the first time I was out I was so tired at the top of the hills I used the downhills to take a small breather, and than I had to mash up everyhill:(

Indeed, there are a couple threads (http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10978) about this. It's a four series race which started back at the beginning of July. I've been to both so far and plan on racing the rest. Hope to see you there!
