Can someone give me some info on the Munger Trail? I ask this question because, two weeks ago, I went along the Munger Trail and, got as far as 6mi. south of Finlayson(55mi.):embarass: , starting in Duluth. I got a flat tire on the trail. I almost slept on the trail. I was intending to go from Duluth, all the way down to Granite Falls, southwest of Minneapolis. At one point, I was thinking of taking Rt. 23 west along Grand Avenue to, where I could catch it going southwest. I chose to go along the trail because of, the traffic.

Chris,
The Munger runs from directly behind the Willard Munger Inn in Duluth to the old train station/fire museum in Hinkley, a total of 77 miles. The trail does not run to Granite Falls, nor it it planned to. Two other sections of the primary route exist: the Gateway Trail going from the state capital area (Cayuga St. Trailhead) to Pine Point Park near Stillwater, and the Sunrise Trail going from Hugo to Wyoming. They are all paved, and I have no idea how "they" expect the Gateway and Sunrise to meet up.
There is also the unpaved Willared Munger Border Route Trail, which is used primarly by ATVs and snowmobiles, east of but parallel to the main trail. More info can be found on the DNR website.
Ride safe,

The MS150 went the route you want to do, it was a great ride.

It's dirt and rock, mostly horse trial I think. I've riden it and it can get very rough, rocky.

Hwy 23 just outside of Gary New Duluth was under heavy construction a short while back - so I heard - so you might want to check that out as well, if you're still thinking of taking that.

Ride safe,I know that the Munger Trail stops in Hinckley. I knew that before, I left. I had a small pocket version of US maps, that, I took with me. I had originally thought, that, I would take Rt.23 all the way down there but, I had heard that, a section of it, intersects with MN I-35. I knew that, for the portion that, intersects, I would have to Rt. 61. When I finally got down there, by bus, I became concerned that, I would have had to deal with 18-wheelers, at times. I was going to try to stay specifically on the trails and, less traveled roads since, that was my first trip. I found out, that, the main reason my inner tube puncture was because of, the tire pressure was low.
