This Saturday, June 26, at least 3 of us are planning on another group ride to Brownie and Theo Wirth from my house in Minneapolis' Central neighborhood, followed up by some BBQ and beer in my back yard (maybe even home brew courtesy of Will Holloway).
Intended highlights:
-Beer on a day!
-BBQ
-A tour of Sunrise Cyclery
-Arguing over the "proper" loop through Theo
-Watching Shad TOTALLY ride the long, skinny, twisty log at Brownie (heh heh)
-A 5 mph lap around Lake Calhoun (to admire the view ... wink wink ... nudge nudge)
I'd like to be able to start the ride around 2:00 p.m. from my house (1 block away from Sunrise Cyclery, which is on 2nd Ave S. between Lake and 31st.). If you're interested, just PM me for my exact address (I don't feel like sharing that with the world ... I know, I'm weird.)
We should be able to be back to my place for BBQ and beer by 5-5:30 till WHENEVER! Don't forget to run in a serpentine pattern to your cars to avoid getting hit by bullets.

Monday is trail work night for a while at Salem so I will not be able to attend.
If all goes well, we should be opening it up in a couple of weeks.
If you riding instead of digging bums come out and help!!! j/k

I be doin' that too (trailwork that is).
I'm going to have a Theo Char and Ride one of these days too, except I'll prolly have it on the weekend so as not to conflict with any trailwork like a good MORC citizen.

Bah, I can't do that either, I have to go to Wisconsin this weekend for my Wife's college reunion.
It seems like the more summer progresses the fewer chances I get for bike related activities on the weekend. I really need to work on that.

I dunno why you mention this weekend, because my original post CLEARLY STATES:
--== Saturday, June 26 ==--
And, not only that, but 2 p.m. rather than 10 a.m. ... so BBQ and Beer at a better time ... plus it won't be Father's Day weekend ... yeah ...

Not sure what calendar you are using, but June 28th is a Monday...
If you are talking about the 26th though, that could work for me.

Saturday the 26th at 2 p.m. it is!
If you're interested, just reply here. Closer to the date I'll send a mass PM to the usernames who have expressed interest and give y'all my house addy and directions (as if you need directions in Minneapolis! Grid system, baby!)

But I do plan on going to trailwork tomorrow at Wirth (my first time). So I will get to associate some faces with names/handles. Meet some of the other folks who would rather scan the wonderful forum than work.:)

Dang! Well, you all have a jolly time, it looks like I'll be out of town that weekend.
I'd love to host one of these as well, but we just need to get some trail built in the north-metro. Oh TCAAP, Oh TCAAP, please let us in. . .

I don't have a huge yard, but it IS big enough to hold a decent number of people (the wife and I make up for our lack of yard space with our 3000 sq ft 1887 Victorian ;) ). Also remember: the emphasis here is the RIDE, my house is more just a meeting place and the BBQ/Beer thing was just sorta thrown on for fun. I'm guessing most people would be inter-Minneapolis residents and therefore would ride over, with a few suburbanite tag-alongs driving over.
Remember, suburbanites, we LOCK our cars and take our keys WITH us in the city. ;)
NEXT Ghetto Group Ride will be at Pat's, tough!

Just sent out a big PM to those on here who expressed interest. Let me know if I missed you, and I'll send you the details!
I mentioned that I'd briefly thought of having everyone meet at Sunrise Cyclery instead of my house, therefore I wouldn't need to PM everyone. But, that'd be awkward to have people meet there, try to get the beer and grillables some might bring over to the fridge at my house ... and THEN go ride ... so, yeah, meet at my house at 2 p.m.
But, I figure if I missed you and somehow you just can't make it to my house or you forget my address and it's not a big deal to meet at my house ('cause you've got your grillables and beer in a cooler or summin') then, meet us at Sunrise Cyclery at 2:15 or so! :)
