It seems the extra time Jan took off for training has done him well. Sitting 1st in the G.C. after three stages. Jan might give Lance a bigger challenge than I first expected (but I doubt it).

G.C. After Stage 3:

1 Jan Ullrich (Ger) T-Mobile Team
2 Oscar Camenzind (Swi) Phonak Hearing Systems
3 Fabian Jeker (Swi) Saunier Duval-Prodir
4 Steve Zampieri (Swi) Vini Caldirola-Nobili Rubinetterie
5 David Canada Gracia (Spa) Saunier Duval-Prodir
6 Bobby Julich (USA) Team CSC
7 Alexandr Kolobnev (Rus) Domina Vacanze
8 Dario David Cioni (Ita) Fassa Bortolo
9 Kim Kirchen (Lux) Fassa Bortolo
10 Georg Totschnig (Aut) Gerolsteiner
11 Alexandre Moos (Swi) Phonak Hearing Systems
12 Axel Merckx (Bel) Lotto-Domo
13 Pavel Tonkov (Rus) Vini Caldirola-Nobili Rubinetterie
14 Patrik Sinkewitz (Ger) Quick.Step-Davitamon
15 Jose Maria Del Olmo (Spa) Milaneza Maia

I think Mario Cippolini has the best chance to win the tour this year, I hear he learned how to climb a hill. :D

I was looking forward to see how much help Veno was going to be for Jan. At this point in his career and with his talent I can't imagine him enjoying playing the backup roll.

or easier for Lance. One less legitimate competitor.
