This week we hope to finish off the first section of our Phase-1 reroute. Trail work will be held rain or shine unless there is a downpour or severe weather. We will post on mocatrails.org if there is a cancellation for any reason.
As usual you can park in the Par 3 lot, but a better place is the lot behind Room and Board. It is a shorter walk and we are trying to minimize impact on the par 3 lot.
Here are the Directions:
1. Take 55 to Schaper Road (the light just east of 100)
2. turn north onto Schaper and follow it to Ottawa.
3. Turn right on Ottawa and follow it to Room and Board.
4. Turn left into Room and Board and go to the rear of the lot.
5. Walk up the paved trail past the radio tower fence, straight across the tracks and up to the work area.
6. At the first fork in the trail take a left and you should see people working someplace to your right.

Isn't it going to be a bit wet/muddy? I guess I assumed it would be cancelled with all of the rain last night and more expected today.

I would too, but I think they are still on - not sure though... I think they have had success before working after a rain.

I'm working on getting the official word from the Trail Steward (Bill O'Reilly), I'll post and update when I find something out.
At this point though assume it is on, there's work we can do in the wet. Stumps pull up easier when it is wet. :D

Here's the word from Bill:
"We are going in to work. It will be messy, I'm sure, but we can get something done. Baba"
So there you have it, come one come all and get messy with us.

We had another killer night, thanks to everyone who showed up.
Special thanks to John L. and Tim W., it was great having a couple more "orange shirts" around.

What a great crew we had at Wirth last night. Built some wonderful single track that will last for many years. Designated some area that we can put some dirt jumps in as well as other areas that we can add some technical challenge.
Seeley and I looked at the next area to build. Will do some preliminary flagging there next week and once approval is given by parks dept the next stage of Wirth can be started. I think the Minneapolis Parks department will be amazed at the speed and the qualityof the work that is being put in to this trail.
Great job on a great trail!!1
