I haven't ridden BC in several years. At that time it was mostly gravel double track. I pulled a "trail map" up today and it looks like there are several intersections, etc. Where are the best sections of this trail??

When were you thinking of ridding BC? Iwas just there last night. Great traction for all the trails. Some small wet areas but most of the trails are in good shape. If your going to ride this week, I could meet you there after work and show you some of whats out there. PM me on your plans.

There's a little bit of everything at Battle Creek, and you can do pretty much anything you want depending on how you put the ride together. There's a route posted on the Trails page for BC "Steve's favorite route" that works pretty well:
http://www.morcmtb.org/trailreviews/metro/images/battlecreek/battlecreek_map.jpg

following his route gives a real good "sampler" of everyting at BC: flowing singletrack, technical climbs and decents, wide double track, lung-busting climbs etc, it takes you through pretty much the entire trail system.

My first couple of rides there, I just stuck to the map. But if you keep the one-ways in mind, there's a lot of different ways to put a ride together. It's fun to ride it with others and get different "opinions" as well.

My personal favorites are the switchback climb off of Pt. Douglas Rd, and the rock garden near Lower Afton Rd.

Post over in "Group rides" if you want folks to hook up with you.

Thanks! I printed the map and it looks like a good place to start.

Why would you need a map? Its a small enough area, just get on your bike and ride! Its not like you can get lost out there. Sure, you may go up something that's easier to go down(well, duh!). Hell, you may even end up going the 'wrong' way, but you'll figure that out soon enough. BC has radically improved over the last few years, you should really enjoy the changes. Been a while since I've been there even...maybe I should make the trip up some weekend...
