Also so I'm the trail steward for this trail system. You'll find my contact info on our web site. We would like to thank all of those who have helped out in the past. As well, we would like to invite anyone interested to join us in the future. Thanks for your time in reading this. Ride Safe and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

Gus,

Welcome to the MORC site. Thanks much for your hard work on the trails at Memorial park. It's a great system of fast runs and technical climbs and decents. Also thanks for your work on the race. The Muddy is always a fun one to do.

I just wanted to say "thanks" to those that work on the Memorial trails. I rode there yesterday and had an epic ride... Great teeter and stunts to raise the fun factor... :D

I was wondering if the sandstone drop down by the golf course is okay to ride these days? I didn't notice any "off limits" signs or barriers to access the drop... Yes, this is an admission of guilt, I hope I was not in the wrong for being tempted to ride the drop... Just could not resist with nothing to keep me out...

Oh, that "Cow Path" is a fun little drop too... Any long term intentions to link that section up with the main loop?

Thanks Red Wing Area Riders!!!!

I'm pretty sure that the old experts only drop is still open, though I do not have the guts/skills to do anything but walk down. Not too many people make it down that section of trail so it could probably use a nice trimming (those raspberry bushes or thorns of some sort really do a number on the forearms), but it's a nice section of singletrack. Plus you get the climb back up to the 5 way intersection. Good times.

The trail down the sandstone expert-only area is open. We tend not to do much with that trail as much of it falls on property controlled by the State Correctional Facility rather than the city. I honestly haven't been out that way this year yet to check on fallen trees or anything so I don't know what condition the trail is in.

Something to remember too is that if you ride it, be careful at the bottom as the trail dumps out onto a paved trail that provides access to the Mississippi National Golf Links parking lot to the driving range. Watch for errant golf carts because they aren't watching out for bikes dropping out from the woods.

By the way, I should note that Gus is organizing some trail work Tues. evenings beginning at 5 p.m. (or there abouts depending on how quick he can get out of work). The focus will be mainly trimming and light maintenance work rather than any of the big projects that we need weekends for. This brings me to another topic! The next weekend work day is planned for Sat. July 2. We hoping for that to be the bridge install day, but we'll have to keep you posted. If we don't have the lumber from the city then we'll work on some erosion issues and parts of Southern Cross that need some rehab.

No trees or anything down. Other than a few thorny bushes that tend to grab onto the arms it's all good.

Sweet. I've heard through the grape vine that "Crazy on You" is the target tomorrow.

The next weekend work day is planned for Sat. July 2.

I'll be there.

Thanks for the update- Good to know that the section is legit... The singletrack leading up to the drop is quite overgrown... Those thorns do as indended, tear up your flesh warding off predators...

The drop is completely ridable, not nearly as difficult as years ago... It's mostly just loose sand with a little exposed bedrock to ride. Years past it was more rock, less sand, that's erosion for you, natural or otherwise...

Just get behind your rear wheel and let it flow...

Thanks again Red Wing Riders... You have all little something for every rider type/ experience level out there & my vote for best all around trail system in MN!!!
