I recently noticed my hardtail has a crack in the weld from the top tube to the head tube. I must have really missed it since it's almost nearly all the way around the top tube (danger!). Anyone know of a good frame welder here in the cities who does a reasonable amount of titanium welding? My frame is a Clark Kent (some of you might remember these). If none in town where do I sent it to get it fixed. The frame has more sentimental worth than anything (except it's a sub 3 lb hartail frame).

Thanks

A broken C/K? Surpirsed it took this long! ;) Take it to Gene at One on One on Washington Ave. I know he can do steel work, but not too sure about Ti. He'll probably know of someone locally who could though(Maybe Bob Brown can...Look him up on Google). I do know that Matt Chester can do repair work, but be prepared for a LOOOOOONG wait(hope you've got a backup). I know he's backed up pretty hard on his own original work. Your frame just maybe relegated to wall art now unfortunately. Good luck!

your best bet would be to look in the yellow pages and call up some welding shops. their ads might tell if they do ti welding. ti welding isn't a "do-it-yourself" project. it requires oxygen-free, oil-free welding. the tubes are filles w/ argon [i think...] to purge the o2. good luck... let us know if you find a welder.
