This has probably been posted already but i can't find it.

This Sat, the guys at Redwing Memorial park are doing trail work from 9:00 PM until 2:00 PM. After that is a pot-luck lunch, then riding on the new trails. Should be a good time and i plan on being there.

I spoke with Chris Gustafson and this is what he had to say:
They're hoping to get about 50 people there. They have 2 miles of new trail as well as repair and cleanup on existing trails. They had a lot of big trees fall down this winter which did some damage to the trails. They'd like people to bring shovels and rakes, as well as weed eaters and chainsaws if you have them.
Meet down by the lower quary. On the right side of the road is an embankment with a path leading up to the trails. Meet there at 9:00 AM.

For the potluck, Chris recomends that people bring something easy to cook. They'll have a firepit that can be used if people get really energetic about the food.

I forgot to mention:
If you do go to the trail building, keep a log of how much you spend for gas, food, and anything else you spend to come work on the trail. Chris is trying to keep a log of volunteer time and money to take to the city in the hopes of getting money out of them to maintain the trails.

How did the trailwork go? I was at a wedding out of town that day, so had to miss it. Hopefully I can make it out for the rest of them this summer (or at least a few). Memorial has sweet trails, and figure if I use them I should help with the upkeep/creating new trails (even if I am a bit away from using them skillwise). I'll give a dancing banana guy to everyone who has made the trails what they are  !!

Heck... one for the city for being cool with people biking on the trails  .

On a pretty much unrelated note: Did anyone lose a water bottle up on the bluff last week? I saw one laying around and picked it up since I'm not a fan of "junk" along the trail. If you want to claim it (it looks like it may have a little sentimental value - if that's possible with a bottle) let me know and we can set something up.

Have a great day, Z

I didn't make it. After all my planning and hyping the work, i remember that i had other things going Sat. evening so i had to bail. :embarass:

As i understand, they'll be doing this on the 1st of each month so i'll have a chance to redeem myself in 26 days. This time i'll actually check my calendar before i open my mouth.
