The US Forest Service is suggesting that riders check out the Trout Lake Primitive Area for new rides in the Chippewa National Forest. Located on the east side of MN Hwy. 38, 13 miles north of Grand Rapids, but the parking area is at the north end of CR 335, (Turn right on County 60, about 11 miles north of Grand Rapids, go about 1.5 miles and turn left onto 335) The system is made up of 21 miles of fire lanes in a 6,000 acre, non-motorized primitive area. The Forest Service rates the trails as "moderate/difficult." There are four bike/hike accessible backcountry campsites in the area.

This will be another new trail for the Backcountry Patrol this season, as part of our planned "Chippewa Summer."

Ride safe,
Hans
