Was riding the east side today and the trail was in great shape!! Few trees in the path that need to be removed but overall good. Question: Entrance to path by 77 with the trail heading west on the north side of the river says closed to Mt. bikes but there are a ton of riders everywhere. Is the DNR sleeping or is it all good?:crazy2:

:eyeroll: If you entered at the trailhead near the blocked off Old Cedar Ave Bridge, you were definitely on a highly illegal trail, which could result in confiscation of your bike and/or a fine.

What did you think the "no bicycles" signs meant?. Also, if you look at the other signs there, you'll see it is U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service land, not the Minnesota DNR.

We've been telling Fish & Wildlife that mountain bikers are responsible folks, who obey signs. It's a safe bet that anywhere in the metro area, if the signs say "no bicycles", the signs mean EXACTLY THAT, and responsible riders will not ride there. Can it be explained in any simpler way?

Sorry Don, didn't mean to piss you off. I am new to the area, and not totally familiar with all the ins and outs of the river bottom. I saw the sign and knew to not ride on the trail. I walked my bike off and started further down the trail. What I dont understand was why were there so many other bikers obviously ignoring the sign, and if you could help me out here, tell me where I can start as far east as possible on the trail with my bike without getting in any trouble. I look at the purpose of these threads as to help others out. Thanks for the warning!!!:)

You'll find information on the east access to the Bloomington River trail in the trails area of this website - metro section - riding east of this point is not permitted, west is OK.

Just want to add....RB West is in great shape, rode it the past two days (as is the legal RB East section which a group of us rode this past Sunday)....I can't wait for the raft to be put in so I can do both in 1 day
