OK, here's the skinny on the 2004 Leb Hills TT and Relay event for this year.

Sunday, May 16th.

Individual time trial will be the same format as previous years - one rider off every 30 seconds. Whether it'll be multiple laps will depend on course conditions and how much distance we can eek out of one lap (I'd like the race to be ~ 6 or 7 miles). Categories will be different this year - they will be consistent with the BLAST series categories and will count towards final BLAST series standings.

$350 total purse for EXPERT cash payout. Medals to the top 3 in each division for other classes.

Team relay will run immediately following the individual race. I highly encourage everyone to enter both events - the more the merrier. 3 riders will comprise each team with each rider riding a shortened (~3 mile) loop. Last year this got a little long, hence the reason we're shortening the course.

There will be a Youth and Kids race as well.

This event will be NORBA sanctioned - but before you stone me - only experts will be required to have licenses. All others will not unless they wish to have their results tallied in the national rankings system.

Check out the web site - http://www.lebanonhillstt.com/ - for more info. Pre-registration will only be accepted via active.com - no mail-ins this year. Day-of registration will also be accepted.

Thanks all...

Fire away. Adam and Shane and I should be able to field anything you can throw at us. Thanks for the additional publicity, John. :)

First question: the route... I know it is likely not formal yet, but I'm sure some will ask if the XX loop will be included. My guess is it won't, but that the X loop will like it was last year.

(maybe the rest of Dream I will be done by then... hmmm...)

The course is obviously subject to change right up until the morning of the race - but in the situation I can lay out whatever course I want, We'll include the new start, the X loop, and the Dream trail if completed but not the XX. The stunts aren't really suitable for a race. The course for the relay will probably be like the course from last year, except no X loop, returning on the intermediate trail ( to shorten the time needed to run the relay).

Nothing is for sure until the day before the race, and not even 100% sure at that point.

I'll try to come out to trail work before the race and see if I can help get some of that stuff done.

Do you have to have a NORBA to race in the expert? Im thinking not, but just wanna make sure, dun know if ill have mine by then. Also, is the relay going to be non-class, kinda everyone all in one?

Relay will have Men's, women's and Mixed categories. (in past years, the latter two have not existed because of a lack of participants) I have no class anyway so you can guarantee this will be a classless event. :-D

I am pretty sure we won't have medals for the relay, we'll try to scrape up some schwag for prizes. Bragging rights are always on the line too.

Anyone racing in Expert is required to have a full-year NORBA license, nobody else is required to.

Now that the spring cup is over, I hope everyone is planning on riding the Time Trial at Lebanon next weekend! Should be another great event - I hope we have a ton more riders this year than last year.

I want to see all you group ride people and regulars there ready to set the standard for lap times at Leb...

OK, here's a special deal - on Saturday after online registration is closed, I'll pick one person at random from the preregistered riders and they will have their entry fee REFUNDED (and still be able to race of course). This is a special promo, $$$ comes out of my own pocket. Maybe Adam or Shane could follow suit and we could do two....

Head over to lebanonhillstt.com and link over to active.com to preregister....

So Saturday Night we'll draw three names from the people who pre-registered via Active.com.

Right now there are only four people pre-registered, so chances of getting drawn are pretty good.... :)

More info -

Youth race will be two laps of the Beginner trail and is intended for up to age 11. This race will be run as soon as possible after the conclusion of the individual TT. (While we're setting up for the team relay event)

The Kid's race will be on a special course (Parking lot and surrounding area) and will be run immediately after the start of the Team Relay event.

Just wondering, if it's raining or has rained and trails are muddy will this event be postponed? canceled? ?? (Hoping it stays dry)

Thanks

SickBoy

Could possibly be canceled depending on weather/trail conditions, but about all that would cancel it would be if it rained from now until race time or there was a massive downpour the night before the race.

It's been so dry that I would not worry too much about it. we can work something out for refunds to preregistrants if that becomes the case.

Hey Andy,

Will the BLAST Series have "series" points or is it basically a collection of individual events?

And I thought I would mention that the weather is looking up. Rain shouldn't start until late afternoon on Sunday.

What's a time trial?

How does the relay work? when do we 'hand off the baton'?

Obviously i'm new to this mtb racing stuff, but am thinking of giving it a shot anyway and may have a couple people to join me.

If I register as a Senior, will I be listed as a Junior again in the race results like I was for Hillside? :P

What I remember from last year they started each rider x minutes apart, then took times as they did their laps. You ended up with a whole lot of people out on the trail all mixed up, but I think the numbers were in order so you could kind of tell who was moving up in the pack.

Dakota doesn't allow "mass start" races at Lebanon, so this is a nice alternative. If I weren't patroling I'd probably ride.. would be interesting to see how my times stack up to others. Whats fun is we can look at the times and then go back and see how we would do later by timing ourselves. (at least until the climb out trail gets built and the course changes)

The relay I think is just one person does a lap, the other does a lap, then another... its a lap by lap relay.

Not sure if they have changed things up this year though.

Hit the nail on the head, John....

FYI... we will be course marking tonight around 6 PM if anyone would like to help and/or get a preview.

Umm, I think the BLAST series will have series points and this event will figure into the "series". (I think this is why I was asked to have age/sex/difficulty divisions that fall in line with the series)
