As a lot of you know, there has been a group of cyclists that has been involved for almost two years with the City of Minneapolis, trying to get off road trails authorized in the Minneapolis Park system. MOCA and the City have generated a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to establish a test project in the Theodore Wirth area. We would like to see a good turnout of cyclists at the informational public hearing at the Wirth Chalet on Wirth Parkway and Plymouth Avenue on Tuesday, January 27th, at
6:30 PM. Residents of the City would be well advised to call or email or write their area councilperson to show support for the plan. Thank you very much, and hope to see you there,

We had a great turnout for the meeting. Thanks for all who attended.

It was very professionally presented. MORC, IMBA, and the MPLS affiliate of MORC did a great job of representing us.

The one thing that really came out from the opposition is the perceived disrespect for the environment, and other users by mountain bikers. I think they had a good experience at the meeting and saw that we really are on the same page. It really is only the selfish few that promote that sterotype.

As a group we have to educate both riders and other users about using the trails respectfully.

If you live in MPLS or the surrounding area, let your council members know your support for the building of trails at Wirth Park. The one big concern was the riding south of Hwy 55 near the Bog and the Wildflower gardens. That area we should not be riding in. It is designated for hikers only, and will only make it more dificult to get biker designated trails built for US.
