Kurt,

The lights are charged! Leb sounds like a good plan if its frozen. Otherwise the riverbottoms should be in good shape. I should be able to get to leb by 7pm if not a little earlier.

Someone mentioned a night ride this week in another thread. I'll direct them here.

Haven't ridden in a couple of weeks being on vacation and all but Friday sounds pretty cool. If the weather is good and the trails are ready to go you can count me in!

I'm up for a night ride. What time are you going to be in the cities Kurt? We could actually start around 5-5:30pm. Lebanon or River bottoms would work for me.

How does 5:30 sound? If there's no objections let's plan on that.

Bright Yellow and I were just out there tonight and the conditons were excellent! With the snow falling it was pristine.

If you have studded tires - bring them. The trail was crystalized snow and ice. I didn't have my studs on and slid both wheels around almost every corner. Don on the other hand had his Nokian 296's and was corning like he was on rails!

When we got to the big area right in front of the entrance to the X loop, the trail was blocked off with orange fence and a closed sign. Not sure if they were closing the X loop or were closing the old trail that used to go down the big hill with the "S" at the bottom - from cross country skiers.

John/Dale - do you guys know if they officially closed the x and xx loops?

Thanks for the report Crash!

As far as snow goes- About and inch fell in St. Paul. It's pretty wet stuff and its warm out right now. Hopefully it will cool down just a bit by the time we ride. I'm not running studs at the moment so I'm hoping that new snow freezes and crusts onto the slick stuff underneath.

Maybe John will post some official word but I don't think we got enough snow to warrant closing anything off.

I really wish I could ride with the famous Kurt Lange, again, but I have other commitments. South Minneapolis barely received about 1/4 - 3/8" of snow this morning. I am only a 10 min drive to the trailhead. Have fun, I am jealous!

I'm actually sick... been sick for the past 3 days. Might not even make the MORC planning meeting unless things turn around before tomorrow.

Bummer...

(I think its strep, not totally sure though)

They are in excellent riding condition!
A little ice, but the latest snow helped alot.
Get out there while you can!

The ride on Friday night was just great! The little bit of new snow the previous day helped out a lot. The trail is packed down and quite rideable without studs. Aggressive tires at a little lower pressure and you'll be fine. There's definitely some sliding around, just enough to keep you on your toes though.

:D

Excellent pictures! I love seeing this kind of thing... keep it up.

I hope everyone hinted a digital camera this year for Christmas so you can all go out and take great action shots like this.

Sorry I missed that ride. Looks like the perfect amount of snow for a great winter ride.

I miss it...
